    Damn right!

    An Ed solo album, now that'd be a fuckin' joke to behold. Going by what Spammy has said about Ed's work ethics this last tour (not that anything Spammy says is worth a turd) and that Andy Johns article lafours posted, Ed would be well and truly lost on his own. He'd probably work on the fucker for a decade, promising everyone that its the best thing he's ever been involved with. Then when he releases it to the handful of people that give a shit, they are blown away by what a joke it is. It'd be VH3 all over again, only worse.

    Then Ed's got nothing left to do but lock himself away from the world and die; alone, drunk, humiliated and kicking himself in the ass for missing the one final chance he had to go out on top.

      Bro, you're 17 years old, trust me, you didn't wake up sweating because of a Van Halen dream....

          The point a lot of people miss is that there already WAS a solo Eddie Van Halen record. It was called "Van Halen 3". Consider:

          1 - Eddie produced (butchered) with Mike Post;
          2 - Eddie sang lead (butchered) for the first time;
          3 - Eddie had his hands in the mix (butchered);
          4 - Eddie played guitar and keyboards (the usual);
          5 - Eddie wrote (the usual);
          6 - Eddie played bass on at least 8 of the songs, probably more;
          7 - There's a drum machine throughout the album, meaning no Alex;
          8 - What more do ya need?

          "Van Halen 3" was, really, the solo Edward Van Halen album and it fucking tanked. What's left to debate?

            Well, Ed and Al are never gonna participate in a CVH reunion scenario where Roth is in the driver's seat regarding choices to be made on non-musical activities. The idea of Ed and Al showing up, shutting up and just playing (as attractive as that notion is) just isn't realistic; they've been used to calling the shots for way too long now.

            And Dave ain't gonna walk back all humbled and act all meek and subservient, leaving it all up to Ed and Al in terms of publicity, promotion and press. No reason he should; they both stink at it. He doesn't.

            Think part of the problem is that Dave and Ed/Al probably want different things out of a CVH reunion (why even fuckin' bother including Mike in any of it? He'll show up and do as he's told), and to make it happen is gonna force ALL of them to compromise in a way that they haven't done since, well, 1984. After 1996, am sure Dave is gonna be hypersensitive to getting duped.

              That's why it didn't work out in 2001. Dave wanted a guarantee in writing from the get-go (fair enough, if you're putting the rest of your life on hold, and then the other party decides "Uh....no" you've just lost a year of your life and lots of potential income from other sources), and they just couldn't come to agreement on the terms.

              (One of the terms, for example, was Dave wanted the reunion to be billed as "Van Halen with David Lee Roth". The brothers balked at this b/c it would've very clearly communicated who the star of the show is.)

              That's what both parties are referring to when they say "It was happening, but then the lawyers got in the way".

                We have all been teased with rumors in the past. But lets look more into some situations over the past few months. Coincidence or not, Eddie and Dave have been linked to cities at the same time. The Van Hagar tour did not do as well as VH might have hoped. The biggest one is that Mikey publicly says they have tried like 4 times to get roth back. This one is the big one. I mean they know this has to happen. It is only a matter of time that these guys cross the T's and Dot teh I's and we will see our mighty VH rock once again. I am the skeptical type. I just think there is way to much money to be made and at this point it may be a matter of pride. Lets face it the past VH cd's have sold millions of records(I include sammy's stuff in there also) Now VH3 sells 500,000 copies and Dave is a emt playing small clubs. One day real soon things will click for both sides and they will rejoin for nothing more then to prove to themselves they ar estill the mighty VH and not just a fading memory. As of now, we will still have that wait and see attitude. But I would be we will Light That torch in the not do distant future.

                  Geeze, sometimes you forget that all their records were multi-platinum. What the fuck happened? (rhetorical question)

                    Dave isn't an EMT because he needs the money (he barely gets anything for it), he's doing it off his own back because he wants to...he wants to help.

                      My comment was not suppose to make fun of teh diamond one. What I meant was if the Mighty VH was touring and recording do you think he would be an EMT. I just wanted to point out that these guys are royalty of rock. And none of them are doing what they should be. That is Kicking ass live on ahuge platform. That is all I meant.

                        Dave already conquered the world once...now he's contributing to it - but I see where you're coming from.

                        Of course, if the Van Halens shape their shit up, the throne's still waiting for him any time he cares to reclaim it, of that I'm pretty sure...

                                The simple idea of a reunion can sure put a bounce in your step.

                                Good discussion, people. WB, the lawyers, the alpha dogs...
