We can bitch forever about not wanting Sam there, but fact is, he was a longtime member of Van Halen when Dave wasn't there. The magic was gone, and Dave moved on. If Sam hadn't been there, people would be pissin' and moanin' about whatever singer they hired. DLR's shoes are impossible to fill.

Besides, in three or four very short years Sammy would technically be eligible. I'm just not getting what all this fuss is about.

I agree. I was just making the point about Cherone and his contribution to VH. It does not compare to Hagar's.

And I think Cherone is an OK guy, with some talent. Unlike Hagar.

But some 18 million (or 44 million... depending on who you ask :D ) tone deaf mother fuckers really like Hagar. So, he's in. I'm over it already.

The night, however, should belong to CVH, IMO. And seeing how Dave had more to do with the grunt work of starting the band than anyone else, he should be front and center shining like the Diamond that he is.

Not sure I agree with that, being as I was one those that did not purchase any Van Hagar material whatsoever, but from what I have heard, it cannot touch CVH, therefore in my opinion and 80% of otheres who frequent this board, spammy does not belong in the hall with Van Halen at this time in our opinion

But he wasn't a big piece of the puzzle! Van Halen (Eddie, Dave, Alex and Mike) would have gotten in the Hall Of Fame without any version of Van Halen after 1984. Van Hagar doesn't even matter.
