VAN HALEN, the real Van Halen, broke up in `85.
An opinion not even shared by Ed which is why it says VAN HALEN on ALL the records. Try again. That argument holds no water at all

My god, one wonders why people still trot out the "Because I said so" argument

80% of this board = .00001% of the record buying public. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Hall could give a fuck what this board thinks.

Geez, don't you have a girl you should be trying to get in the pants of instead of worrying about this shit?

Right Now....Somebody is missing the fucking point. The guys are in the Hall of Fame.

Who gives a shit about the details?

            And your`s does?
Why then is Cherone not included in the RRHOF induction?

Well, whoopee! I didn't buy any of the Van Hagar shit either.

News flash for ya-the commitee evidently doesn't care if people on this board or anybody else for that matter want Spam there or not. Shit, I don't particularly want him there, but he deserves to be. He has a big place in the history of VH, like it or not. If that's not a piece of the puzzle, I don't know what is. Hell yeah, Dave, to me, is the biggest piece of that puzzle. But like I already said, when that CVH magic was used up, Dave moved on and Spammy was there to help take VH in the direction that I'm quite positive Ed wanted to go.

Well your opinion only accounts for 11% of this boards opinion, so your opinion doesn't matter at all according to the poll here
No where will I accept Spammy as the lead singer of Van Halen or find him worthy of the RRHOF, which they should rename to the Hall of Shame

Van Halen didn't need spammy to get into the hall

Some people just don't possess the coping mechanisms needed to deal with disappointments in life.

Thank God Dave does, and he can go on stage with class and dignity knowing that he was the best thing that ever happened to that band with out being in denial and pretending that the other years didn't exist.

The other years may have sucked in our opinion, and in Dave's opinion, but the albums still sold. Thats the bottom line.

Ed could be in on his own for obvious reasons.

                          Probably not Al.

                          Sam and Mike ...no way.
If Al wasn't Ed's brother he would be regarded as one of the all time greats. The thing with Al is that he sounds like Al, instantly recogniseable with THAT snare and those open hi hats and that bell ringing ride,, he has a signature sound and that sound is also part of the uniquness of Van Halen.

There aint too many drummers where you know it is them instantly, Copeland, Bonzo, Mitchell to name a few, but few and far between in the rock world.

Alex fucking rocks imo and is way too underated.

The puzzle was already complete. When a piece of the puzzle was lost, the brothers just crammed a yellow and red piece, that they found in a McDonalds happy meal, into the slot.

I don't know how many times I can say this but what is the fucking criteria for this induction shit?

Dio's not included with Sabbath, Warham pointed out the Fleetwood Mac dealio, Ford answered my Jefferson Airplane question and now this whole mess?

All I'm sayin' tis something's fucked up with this whole process. Again, we bring up Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood. Understood. I also seem to remember Kenny Jones (maybe?) got in with The Who? Don't quote me on that cos I'm not positive? Jones only played on TWO Who records. So and with that being said, since Hag's included, why aren't Cherone, Nicolette Larson, Micheal MacDonald or Steve Lukather also included with Van Halen based on the same criteria?

Again, I just don't get this process?

I'm also dumbfounded as to why Hagar's doing this MAJOR about face regarding Dave? All whilst both Dave's and Anthony's statements are extremely direct, appreciative and respectful. All the whilst Spam will not shut the fuck up and is blabbing more about this than anyone.

Seriously, IF he's such the "icon" that he thinks he is, why is he now BLATANTLY acquiescing to Dave soooo much and NOT mentioning his self-maufacured successes? There's a fucking reason that Montrose ain't in there you dummy!!! It's NOt nor are YOUR cuntributions to Rock and Roll worth shit!!!

Van Hagar was sucessful --- millions of copies sold --- four #1 albums --- tours did very well --- and yes, they were still popular.

There was SUCCESS no doubt, mostly due to the fact that CVH paved the way for it.

However, Van Hagar didn't have an IMPACT on the music scene nor were they INFLUENTIAL. Those words can be used to describe CVH no doubt, buit not Van Hagar.

They had success but it was a product of its time, unlike CVH which is timeless, much like Led Zeppelin or the Beatles.

                                There was no IMPACT.
Now that's a thought-provoking post. RRHF should be about influence as much as commercial success, right?
