    VH REUNION Vs. THE POLICE

If VH and the police go head to head, here are my guesses. VH nets 60-70 million in tix sales, tour gets extended, box sets and a new album, 2 year lifespan.

police play 30-50 dates, fizzle, 50-60 million. What do you think. I see police reunion as a one time, summer 2007, then it is over.

Would put them close to even in the States, but the Police would do far greater business in Europe and the UK.

Van Halen, with or without Anthony, isn't gonna be an automatic sellout outside of the US.

I give the edge to The Police because it's the original band entirely. Also add in the fact that EVH is inconsistent these days.

If it was the original 4 guys, and Ed was sober, THEN it would be the concert tour of the year!

Van Halen should win but wont. The Police are too commercial.

Who cares, I'm glad I get the chance to enjoy the music by both bands.

Old Andy Summers quote on Eddie

He was quoted as saying this sometime in the early 80s:

Andy Summers of the pop/new wave trio the Police called him "a natural virtuoso," adding, "What impresses me is his passion, his spirit and his musicality. Really, I think he is the greatest rock guitarist since Hendrix."

Are you kidding? the Police have a WAY wider fan base. They will get all the young'uns plus the 50 to 60 year olds. Van halen wont get as many oldies. You gotta factor in that Sting alone is a huge draw and will bring in the Volvo crowd. No comparison. This is not a VH reunion tour anyways. They will be playing ampitheaters and sheds, the Police will be multiple nite stadium gigs.

The Police are rehearsing right here in Vancouver.

I know exactly where they are playing and they aren't hiding.

Actually pretty cool, but nothing can top Van Halen with ROTH, no matter who is playing bass.

I think the amphitheatre thing is because maybe Roth isn't officially signed.

Once he is the promoter will have to change the venues, without a doubt.

The amphithatre gigs are for Coverdale:p

The Police easy. They haven't trashed their legacy the way VH has. Besides which, The Police will show up for every single show they schedule. Van Halen will be a night to night thing. There's no guarantee that VH will make it to the end of the tour.

Hard Classic Rock is making a huge comeback with younger generation these days. I would think that VH would have large crowds of youngsters that the Police wouldn't appeal to.
