...and he's fucking right.EVERYBODY copied Hendrix in some way prior to VH1. After that................all of you remember missing the strings on the fretboard w/ yer right hand the first time you tried "IT"!:D

dude.......but if you think about it, van halen still has the legacy of being the ultimate party band. the police is more of a "go with your dad and your uncle to the show and have a nice relaxing time". van halen, you can still get all your buddies together and get smashed and watch the concert with all of the other young people there. it's just what crowd your into.

I think there's a lot less of the "can they still cut it" factor with the police. You KNOW you'll get your moneys worth out of them. Van Halen could be great or it could just be a sad echo of what we all remember.
It's that very x factor that has me more wary about it than anything else...

Can Ed, Dave, Alex and whoever is playing bass actually pull it off?

In 1996, the thought never crossed my mind, but now I honestly wonder.

police play 30-50 dates, fizzle, 50-60 million. What do you think. I see police reunion as a one time, summer 2007, then it is over.
Stop this comparison madness! '07 proves to be the year rock returns. I saw both bands in their glory days and I couldn't be happier to see them both again. Me Wise Magic of the circular fashion.

My prediction...the Police tour will be the highest grossing tour in 2007 (and 2008 if it extends that far).

You're joking, right? I've seen Andy Summers live a few times and he is absolutely fucking amazing on guitar. Way way way under rated. The last show I saw he and the band took requests toward the end of the show. They played anything people threw out. I requested Back in Black....to my fucking amazement....they played it!

The Police to Reunite for Grammy Awards

                          Tue Jan 30,11:51 AM ET

The Police will reunite to perform at this year's Grammys ceremony, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.

The award-winning group, which won five Grammys and turned out hits such as "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take," will open the event 23 years after breaking up.

The band singer Sting, guitarist Stewart Copeland and drummer Andy Summers fused reggae with pop and rock, and last performed together in 2003 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

CBS will air the 49th annual Grammy Awards live from Los Angeles on Feb. 11.

That opinion is usually based upon knowing The Police via the last couple albums. Look at the catalog as a whole - there's a lot of energy in there. There first couple of albums have a punk energy similar to The Clash.

By Sychronicity their sound had become more refined (though Synchronicity II still rocked hard) but they still threw down live.

All of the other young people!?!? Are you delusional? The only young person at this concert will be Wolfie.

Looks like the Police are already stealing VH's thunder. The Police tour will be the biggest tour of the year selling out large venues and arenas while VH will hit the medium size outdoor sheds. Without all the original members the VH tour is a joke I'm amazed they were even inducted into the RRHOF this year as they ceased to be a viable musical force in 1996... some would even say 1984. That's 11 or 23 years ago depending on who you ask. The Police collectively stopped recording and touring at the top of their game. VH were pushed out of the music biz with the lack luster VH III. The Police are musical legends while Eddie Van Halen has single handedly mis managed his band so that they are a joke. Bringing Wolfie in on bass is NOT helping the band's legacy. This VH tour is going to be a very sad event. Eddie can't play, Dave can't sing, Alex wears a neck brace and Wolfie's just a kid who's dad has put way to much history on his shoulders. See it as fast as you can because VH 2007 will not make it through the summer.
