Van Halen Not On Ticketmaster's Top Seller List

Ticketmaster who is the largest seller of VH Tour tickets, always shows the "Hot Tickets" list on the front of their web page, which reflects performing artists with the highest tickets sales for that day.

I keep noticing that Van Halen is never on that list. Here's the Hot Tickets lists for yesterday. However, Van Halen is shown in the lower right column of Ticketmaster's homepage, but that area is all advertising space, and CCC has to pay big bucks for that space.

Thanks for vids, all the new links, and your EM's. You're the man!!!! Jesussss that vid of VH’s in-studio rendition of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" blew me away……just f-ing awesome! Hagar's screeching couldn't even screw up that deal, haaaaaa. I'm going to remix the sound track off that vid in my studios, and will EM ya to shoot ya a copy when I'm done. A lot of RA bros here forget that in the Spammy years, Eddie/Alex/Michael were still incredible musicians and did some damn good work! You just had to ignore Spammy to get to the meat of their music.

It's important to remember that, Van Hagar was one of the few hard-rock bands that made it through the causalities when Nirvana and all that crap grunge music wiped out the rock business in the early ’90’s . The music exec’s just totally destroyed the rock music movement, that started in the 60’s, with that “new wave” grunge crap. Put 100’s of thousands musicians and support personnel out on the street almost overnight! Van Hagar was shit compared to Van Roth, but if you wanted to see a hard rock concert in the early to mid 90’s, that was your choice for us older diehard rockers. Hell, hardly any hard-rockers were Touring then, because you couldn’t get a promote.

Stevie Ray Vaughan tragically getting killed in August 1990 sure didn’t help matters either. SRV suddenly leaving us just took a ton of steam out of the rock and blues-rock industry. Even Eddie V talked about that dark day and what SRV’s death did to help the rock industry totally become unglued when that Nirvana crap got shoved down our throats. Luckily in the mid 90’s Satriani and a few started Touring and that really helped. By that time, VH got so bad, and Eddie got so weird and out of control with his personal life, they should have retired to avoid the public embarrassment and killing their past albums’ unit sales! Unfortunately, the hard-rock industry has never recovered….just continues to limp along with niche market product offerings and ol’ fart reunions. The best rock concerts going forward are going to be the Memorial’s for all our dead friends and hero’s, lol………………..

Gigolo, also your Andrew Dice Clay avatar and Dice saying "Where's Diamond Jerkoffs!" is awesome. I can hear the damn guy saying it now. Dice was no Sam Kinison, but still had some damn funny stuff in his day. That movie, “The Adventure's of Ford Fairlane” is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Never seen anything with so many great one-liners in it, other than some of Diamond’s stuff! Too bad Dice is a fat ugly pig now. Mannnn he really let himself go to hell. PS: regarding you last EM: No, I'm a Fender guy. Popped out on the delivery table with a Strat in my hand. Just one of those God given deals. I can listen to almost anything and then play it. I’ve received a lot of posts, pm’s, & em’s on my gear and setup so here’s my standard comments on that for ya:

Music is art form and art is 100% personal interpretation. As to the continual sound and gear musician chatter, all that matters is what makes you happy, and more importantly, if you’re getting paid for your music, what makes your fans happy!

I play custom Fender Stratocaster’s, various years ’58 to ‘64, and also have a ’79. I maintain them in mint condition. One of my Strats was owned by the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan, which I rarely take out of the case. I play through a custom Randy Rhodes style non-digital pedals board – have all sorts of signal processing pedals on that “Big Black” board. It’s built where you can easily and quickly change pedal configurations for customizing sounds or finding new ones.

“Big Black” is stereo piped to a pair of custom '59 Fender vintage re-issue SRV stage tube amps, each with 4x12 cabinets. Both amps are two channels, with built in ’63 reissue Fender reverb units, preamp in/out jacks, and several other custom goodies. It all works for me, my music, and my “audience”, however other musicians may think it sucks - which is fine.

Many younger musicians have asked why I would screw with those old style reissue tube amps, which I reply: The consistency of the sound curves on the SRV 59’s requires some patience, and yes the tubes generate a lot of heat. However, my custom stage amps sound unbelievable, with unmatched tone and separation, in any rock/blues-rock concert hall or stadium configuration. But the best thing about my tube amps is, that after finishing a long fatiguing show, it's great to be able to cook up a hot and fulfilling meal on them before quickly departing the stage area to "bed down" groupies for the rest of the night and morning....The way God meant music to be made!

I laughed when I got this phone call from my CCC contact. CCC must really be hurting on this VH Tour to resort to this measure. I mean it's not like they are not promoting numerous other concerts presently. Why all the fuss on the VH Tour they are promoting unless they are taking it in the arse.

Gee could it be that CCC is dying because they are paying the Van Halen boys more guaranteed money for the 2004 Tour than Van Halen GROSSED on the entire last Van Hagar Tour, being $35 million.

CCC is screwed... the entire downline is screwed. A friend told me last night, and this is 3rd or 4th hand (although I believe it) that Eddie's response to the poor ticket sales was "F*ck it, I'm getting paid all the same"... Eddie never could see the long term big picture. In this cold business- f' me today = f' you tomorrow, and forever after.

I really am afraid that this abortion is going to be about all she wrote for the band. That was my fear, turned to reality, and a damn shame.

Those mentioning that Dave is smart to steer 100% clear of this train wreck are right on the money. Thing is, this train may never be track ready again... no matter the guy sitting up front.

It took you over a week to come up with this shit. If ticket sales were as dismal as you say they are, CCC would have known that before the tour even started. You are saying that they waited after 5 or 6 concerts before they started making sure there wasn't a leak. Bullshit! You also say that you can't publicly post figures anymore, because CCC has gotten agressive at stopping leaks, yet you will still post them just not for Sammy fans to see. More Bullshit! Sounds like you really care about your "connections" in CCC considering you are still posting figures after you say they could be fired if they were leaked.
