We all know the song will suck lyrically and vocally before it even starts.
Spammy is in charge of this, its a given.
My main interest in this song was to hear Ed's riffs and more importantly the solo. Im writing this post after my first listen, the solo in this is better than IAT, but it still sounds like he's struggling to
reach his former levels. The song itself sounds more commercially
viable than IAT. But its still a long way away from what Van Halen were.
How about you other axemen, same opinion ? Theres not much going on is there..
Oh well, therse still one more song to hear, based on the first two, I still think Ed's not quite there. But Im going to give the benefit of the doubt, until I hear the third one.
Im thinking to myself, if this was a new Ozzy release with Randy Rhoads playing, I would be extermely dissapointed. (Which is impossible as Randy is no longer with us, but he had the same impact on me as EVH). So if you throw it to comparison, even against older Van Halen tunes, ED sucks at the moment.. (Panamark, you said you were going to reserve judgement until you hear the third song) Oh yeah, I forgot...
Fuck how about those lyrics ? Did I actually hear Spammy using three syllable words ?? Im sure there was "Banana" thrown in there somewhere. He really is trying this time..
