"Yngwie smoked Eddie on guitar as far back as '83.....Yngwie has OWNED Eddie since then."

Haha, that's a fucking hilarious joke.

    Good one!

Finished the book. A couple more quotes of note and I'm done.

This pretty much sums up Ed's life as I see it after reading this book. 2004 after Tucson show where Ed had a meltdown:

"By this point, Ed also hated Sammy. There always had to be a bad guy in his life, someone responsible for all of his problems, and as far as he was concerned, that was Sammy now."

      2007:

"Although he'd shown up the previous Christmas sober, he'd relapsed as Van Halen prepared for a summer tour with Dave returning as singer. The bad-mouthing and politicking behind the scenes by Sammy and Michael Anthony, whom Ed had replaced with Wolfie, drove him back to drinking.

Al made it clear that he didn't want to tour unless Ed was sober. Then the capper was when Wolfie came home extremely upset one day after a photo shoot. He'd also run out of patience and said something like, 'That's it. I'm telling dad that I'm not doing the tour.' He didn't want to tell me what happened or whether he'd spoken to his father about it. Soon after, though, Ed checked himself in for treatment."

Oh yeah, and I spoke too soon earlier. Val cheated once again around 2001 when she finally decided to divorce Ed. Why she didn't wait until after she left him, I didn't understand.

Ed had a girlfriend move in two weeks after Val moved out. What a winner!
      Same ole song and dance...

Thanks for the info to those who have read Val's book. Now I don't have to buy it, unless I want to read some 'dirt' about "One Day at a time" and Mackenzie Phillips drug use.

Can't wait for Michael Anthony's book, I hope he has one in the works.

Yngwie never had an idea as groundbreaking as Meanstreet or Cathedral (but he sure copied Cathedral with his cheeseball 'echo etude'.)
Ed leads, the swedish metaball follows. Case closed.

            Absolutely.

Yngwhale is a technically proficient guitar player first and foremost.

His songwriting slides somewhere below being an asshole and
            professional eater.

B.B. King can do more with one note than this guy has done his entire career.

Us girls were cramping the band's style.
I'm not saying it's right to that extreme, but sometimes when some
guys let their wives/girlfriends get too familiar, get too comfortable,
they start "suggesting" songs for the setlist, then they want to sing backup, ten they want to join you onstage with the cowbell, then they want to play keyboards, then you're covering Van Haggis.

It can cause problems. I've seen it happen.

I always thought it was about sales, a single rock god is going to have more female sales if she has that fantasy that he is single .

                  Same with movie stars.

Wow, i'm just about done with the book myself, and it seems like neither of them are very functional human beings.
Val cheats, Ed cheats, this one blames that one, Yngwie gets fatter, etc.

I did find Val's take interesting, though, and this book holds more insight than the usual tome's that reprint Guitar World & Hit Parader quotes.

Yngwie did his own take on stuff EVH ripped off from Alan Holdsworth.

(Vai and Satch can fuck off.......they aren't even good enough to be Eddie or Yngwie Guitar techs).

                      So yah....Valerie talked shite there.....she isn't a Guitar Player/Musician.

Alex said Ed and him were riding in a car together and a song with Yngwie came on and Ed went;" man that guy is playing some shit!"

I remember Lee Jackson the amp mod guy saying things were very competative between guitar players then and everyone had modded amps but claimed they were stock and there was huge distrust amongst players. Ed was a target.

I remember Sammy Hagar saying Val looked after her man in almost a selfish way. It was all about Ed to her and the rest of the band took second place. Sam said Val seemed to feel Ed needed a strong person on his side since he was shy and insecure.

I get tired of hearing rich people whine. I've dealt with clinical depression for years not knowing I had OCD and I've been right there where I was ready to commit suicide years ago. I really was ready to do it and that is hitting rock bottom pretty good.

So that being said, I have little patience for whiners. Depression and substance abuse can be treated but you have to do your part. Nobody can make you happy but you. Happiness is something you choose.

Valerie and Ed should go to Haiti and watch people starve to death or try digging a ditch for pennies a day. I get tired of people who have made millions crying about life. Both Val and Ed made big money doing something they liked. Try working in a sweat shop for nothing. I'm tired of hearing, oh it's so hard. That's why I always liked Dave. He came from money but always appreciated it but never felt guilty he had it. Dave knows how most the people in the world live. In shit.

I don't really see the point of even talking about the band at all regarding her weight issues. She could have said 'my husband was in a band and wasn't very happy.' The end. Bringing up all she does is unnecessary. I suppose she figures it would sell more books, because her story is pretty boring. So she writes about the band and Mackenzie Phillips' drug problems! She titled some of the chapters with Van Halen song titles too.

I know she's trying to get a career back and she wants a sitcom, but I really think she's going about it the wrong way.
Our neighbors when I was a kid moved to the Los Angeles area and I remember one of their sons saying he went to school with Vallerie Bertinelli. This is when she was America's sweetheart on One Day at a Time and before Ed. He said she was a real bitch and very far from being the likable Barbara Cooper.

Now she is exposing herself as the bitch she really is. She married Ed because she wanted a bad boy. She has even admitted that. She hated being Barbara Cooper and wanted some naughyness in her life.

She's a loser and I'm not talking about weight. :D She wrote a dirt book that plugs her weight loss success. She hopes to sell lots of books and Jenny Craig products. All at the expense of exposing skeletons her teenage son doesn't need to know about and how embarrassing it must be. "Hey Wolfie, are you the result of that drummers cum shot?" LOL! Teens can be horribly cruel and with mom's book, Wolfie has much to be embarrassed about.
