About as memorable as, say, Vixen, Firehouse, Kix--decent stuff, but way too here-today, gone-later-today.

Ended up picking up almost all the post-Roth Van Halen stuff at one time or another.

Ed was one of my primary influences on guitar, so it was always a case of hoping for the best ("Well, the last Van Hagar album sucked, but THIS one might not").

By the time Live RHRN came out, just couldn't be bothered, Gave Balance a miss, but ended up hearing most of it anyway.

Can remember interview after interview in 1985 and early 1986 before 5150 came out, where Ed was chanting his mantra, "Sam's just a better singer than Dave. There's no limits anymore to what we can do," etc. And just laughing when I heard it. Production was shitty. Sound quality was shitty. Lyrics by Hallmark. Synthesized pop rock all over the place.

Is it any coincidence that the thing people got most psyched up over regarding Van Halen after Roth left was when he returned in 1996?

Seriously, Van Hagar was so NOTHING to rock and roll, it doesn't register in my head that the Van Hagar albums and songs even existed. It's like remembering The Firm songs or Wings songs.

I don't give a damn about anything without Dave. To encourage everyone else to do the same me and a friend put Van Hagars albums in with shit bands cds, including bands like good charlotte and peter andre........
