Over the last 30 years i know i have spent a good $25k (TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND) on VH sheete , albums , posters , tickets , etc....

I think it all came down to financial backing. That's a lot of fucking cash to come up with for deposits for bands to travel [I]that[/I ] far. You can bet it was a 50% up front and 50% after the performance deal....

No up front cash= NO CONCERT....

For those of you who don't do the Twitter thing, here are some recent tweets from the concert promoter -

In response to the question "not to be nosy, but will you name bands from the scrapped announcement?", he replied:

"I would love to be able to point fingers and name names, but that would make it tough to work with those people in the future."

In response to the question "will some of the bands that were meant to be on the 2nd announcement be playing shows?", he replied:

"the main one cancelled, the 2nd biggest has now shifted to SW12. Waiting to hear from Go Radio"

In response to the comment "People bought tickets before they knew about this band being on the bill, no one really cares that they won't be playing!", he replied:

"You miss the point. We needed that massive band to help sell enough tickets to make the festival possible."

Reading through the lines, my hunch is that VH canceled for some unknown reason, and then the promoter decided that with VH out of the picture, he wouldn't be able to sell enough tickets to make it work. Just my own take, I have no idea if that's what actually happened.

Maybe: I think we all need to realize that VH is not necessarily the top draw act we'd like to think they are (globablly speaking, not just the US) But that line-up had all bases covered: 'classic' and new bands, so you'd think they would shift some tickets.

If they aren't big enough then they only have their constant fuckups plus their total neglect of their international fans since the very early 80s.

Scaling it up by population do you think they could sell out 15 x 20 000=300 000 people in the UK because I don't. Maybe only a few rock bands could.
