Just read the story on VHND, and the part that stuck out to me was the bit about how, yeah, they never confirmed that it was VH, but those fuckers never DENIED it either! Assholes.
I'm reminded of a quote from Dave in his book in the "Reunion Blues" chapter, "...allowing people to labor under an illusion... Still, some people think that's not lying." Now I'm REALLY glad I didn't lose any sleep to watch that debacle.Comment

Now....let's see....we just did a new record deal.....and someone made up a rumour....anyone in the room have time to squash it? Ok you do that (it is on record as being squashed) now....back to the bus company....for the tour I want 700 brown M&M's in the bus driver's sink whenever he pulls into the Motel.
I hate the Grammys. Most any person who loves rock will tell you that. No way in hell I expected them to show up there.

I guess I'm among the dozens of people on this website who had better things to do than comb through the article that you're referring to with a magnifying glass. If it was such an obvious point in the article, then why did so many others on this site, who love rock by the way, spend their time watching the Grammy's? Were they all dumb enough to be fooled? Were they all blind enough not to see that part of the article?
Then again, I stated above that I read the story on VHND. Read my post closely. I didn't read any other stories or articles other than what was on VHND, and I reacted to that article only. And if I'm not mistaken, it said right on VHND, "But most of the disappointment is the fault of the Grammys. When given an opportunity by Rolling Stone to set the record straight when Rolling Stone flatly asked them if there was any truth to their Van Halen rumor, they declined to comment, instead letting the rumor grow to booster their own ratings." Seems to me that they didn't deny it or set the record straight.
Oh, and yeah, I never said I like the Grammy's. Read my posts closely. In fact, I've never watched them ever in my life. Never once. I recorded this year's show on DVR so that I could watch them the next day, if VH would have been on them. Once I read that they weren't, I deleted the show off my DVR without watching even a single second of it.Last edited by Bad Muthafucker; 12-05-2011, 09:57 AM.Comment

BEACH BOYS CONFIRM THEY WERE THE "GRAMMY SURPRISE"...NOT VAN HALEN
From the VHND....
The Beach Boys confirm that the “mystery” band that was rumored to reunite at the Grammy Nominations Concert Live event in Los Angeles on Nov. 30th was to be themselves, not Van Halen.
From WENN.com:
Former The Beach Boys star Al Jardine has revealed his band was supposed to be the subject of the Grammy Awards’ big reunion announcement last month and he has no idea why the major news wasn’t part of the nominations party.
Grammy bosses hinted they’d be breaking a big scoop during the Grammy Nominations Concert Live event in Los Angeles and many experts predicted the announcement would revolve around a Van Halen performance at the awards show in February (12) – but there was no bombshell.
Even bosses apologized, stating, “In the world of creativity, everything is fluid. In the process of discussions that we had been having with an expectation that perhaps we would be at a point tonight where the artist involved and we, moving forward, would be ready to announce (a reunion), they weren’t quite at that point.”
And now Jardine was revealed the big announcement was supposed to revolve around a full Beach Boys reunion at the Grammy Awards.
He tells Rolling Stone, “I thought the Grammys might make the announcement. I don’t know what happened… There will be a surprise at the Grammys. We’ll do something really exciting… It’s going to be a very big operation.”Originally posted by perilouspete

What the fuck is that about?
Why would those Grammy assholes Tweet about a reunion that would make you want to "Jump" or "Dance The Night Away" if it was the fucking Beach Boys?

And all of the subsequent speculation by the VHND about the prospects of The Beach Boys, VH (or just Dave) and Katy Perry doing a mash up of the two California Girls songs is even more horrifying! Some tweetin' A hole F'd up with the whole Jump/Dance post. At this point, after what I wasted an hour on that night, I hope to high Hell that VH hasn't the slightest thing to do with that show. Even if lackluster Katy was a big DLR fan growing up (read that somewhere) I don't envision that being a performance for the ages. Once again, thanks VH for not helping the situation any with your silent treatment.Comment

I guess I could apologize for my tweet to them that night....
But Bridge hits the nail on the head, all of this would be a non-issue if the Grammy's wouldn't have send out that Tweet.....
And yes, VH could've squashed it immediately as well....

I was thinking the same thing...
Does the typical 22 year old college kid care AT ALL to see the Beach Boys sing California Girls on their 50th anniversary ??Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
