Is there even a label behind them? And type of publishing or marketing? A Walmart deal similar to AC/DC? Some company still has to print up all those cd's. Just because the album will be finished doesn't mean we will get to hear it anytime soon. I'm just having some bad thoughts tonight that it's still going to be a fucking long ass time before we have an album in our nicotine stained hands.
The only positive thing that I can think of is they have Irving Azoff as a manager. He may be the evil bastard that merged ticketmaster & live nation so we can all pay insanely high ticket prices - BUT - I like to think he'll be sharp on the biz side of things like distribution. If nothing else, it will help him get paid quicker... I don't see why there couldn't be an internet single by October... oh wait, yes I do. Nevermind.

I hope I'm not dating myself, but haven't Tuesday and Thursday traditionally been the release dates for new records (those big round things)? If people are speculating that the new VH album may be released in late September, than Tuesday 9/27 would follow this trend. Sept 27th just happens to be the date Spammy's broadcasting a live Chickenfart concert webcast thingy. I'm doing my best to connect dots, but if I were Spammy and I wanted to grab a piece of any VH new album hype, I'd broadcast a live concert of my new band that day, for example. Maybe he's got some inside info as to the release date. OK, just sayin ...

Albums are released on Tuesday. Have been for years now. As far as a Van Halen release this month, I'd love to see it, but it seems unlikely that would happen without a single leaking out to the radio (and maybe even eMpTyV/VH1) first. Usually you get the initial single a month - 6 weeks ahead of the album, and if we're lucky someone at the label will leak the whole thing on the net and then hypocritically bitch about "pirates".

That said though, their window is rapidly closing for 2011. They either have to release this thing by Thanksgiving, or forget about it until next spring, because everybody's broke after the holidays, and nobody's going to give a shit if they release an album in January or February. And it would certainly be better if the album could get a little airplay before the radio stations start playing fucking Xmas music.

To be honest, at this point in the game I'm just about OK with waiting for a spring release if they would just put a goddamn release date out there. Give me something to look forward to, ya know? Hell, they could even announce the release date and tour dates well before the album is out for all I care. I think VH is a band that doesn't have to worry about having a current album out to sell tickets.. most of the hardcores will snap up tix as soon as they're available and everyone else can wait till they hear the album.. If nothing else it gives them more time to sell tix... I'd really rather they not tour in the winter months. I'm in S.Florida and plan on seeing as many shows as possible - I don't do so well in cold, my blood is thin!

Perhaps Eddie knows this and is having a winter tour coincide with the release of his patented trademarked Frankenstrat design fleece hoodie jacket?

Right.... and then they can call the album "Armistice Day" instead of "Independence Day".

In the spring I said there will be no Van Halen tour this summer. I was right. Now my next prediction is there we be nothing new from Van Halen ever. One of these days we will hear from David Lee Roth again and he will tell stories of a very disfunctional working situation and how it just wasn't workable. The last tour with Roth worked because they played old songs. I bet Ed and Dave are fighting over lyrics and what Dave's roll in the band is. If Eddie had a second son who sang, Dave would be out.

Now, please predict when Dave will leave these lunatics. And, more importantly, when will be his next album or tour.

It's getting late in the day to release the record for the Christmas market - record companies usually like the big albums out by mid September at the latest, to allow singles to drum up interest. Consequently, even if the record is done, it may be that they are delayed in releasing it until 2012.
