Album Sales predictions-What do you think?

For me, I don't look at the album sales as a comparison to other bands or what Van Halen sold back in the day. To me, it's more of a gauge of how many Van Halen fans are willing to actually step up to the cash register and buy the damn record! Where are all the Van Halen fans? Those of us who bought up the six pack like a teenager on a weekend bender in Tijuana? I could give two shits how many records this album sells over the course of a year. Give it a year??? Fuck me! We used to snatch up copies of the latest Van Halen record like it was GOLD! Back then...I really was grateful for what they "gave" me, because it was the best damn thing I'd ever heard! And it was the new Van Halen record! And now, after 28 fucking years, we get a new Van Halen record and only a handful of us buy the damn thing? I just don't get it.

The meter has changed. AAscap will tell you that. Watch what happens with any metric. The "Music Industry" wants to fool those that purchase it's product. VH is still fine. It will find it's way. I am sitting next to the record myself. Let American Idol work it's foul.

I'm amazed how many people have said to me "they have an album coming out soon." I usually respond "not till they're finished touring to promote the one that just came out".

I agree, the promo has been to us rabid fans that sit here with our tongues hanging out.

It's not like Van Halen has instilled a lot of loyalty in its fan base over those 28 years. CVH fans bailed in '86. Casual fans probably bailed after '96. Die hards left the flock after the Cherone debacle. Add on to that the '04 trainwreck tour, the three lousy songs on BOBW, Ed's porno party, etc., etc., and its a wonder there's anyone left at all to buy ADKOT. Most folks out there aren't as dedicated to VH as we are to DLR.

Give it some time HR. Like all things VH, it takes a little while and it will slowly soak into the fabric of America. Then in 5+ years we won't even remember what it was like to not have these 13 songs. Someone earlier said Beats Workin' was played during a Nascar event. Only 6 weeks since release man. It'll get it's legs. Just wait until NFL season.

Watching the Nationwide series race in the background now and so far I've heard them bump out to commercials with both Beats Workin' and Blood and Fire. They may have played some others but I haven't been totally listening.

The potential radio singles are Stay Frosty, Blood and Fire, and You and Your Blues, but the thing is that this is not a POP album at all........it fucking ROCKS!!!!!!!!! I know that I have influenced many people to buy the album. I know that many of us in the roth army have done the same, and word of mouth will continue......but the album is so good, it will sell more.

People our age don`t buy music anymore, they`re all sucked up in their own life trying to survive...And the younger generations are not interested in this kind of music...just like our generation X wasn`t buying the new release of the Beach Boys in the `80s...

P.S. Come to think of it when I express my appreciation for VH these days to a younger crowd, I`m starting to sound like my father back when I was a teen and talking about his 50`s music such as Glenn Miller and all these real musicians as he would call them...

It was enough for me that I have given up my desire to see the record sell 37 million copies. I know that these two kids have bought and paid to download Stay Frosty, and then they both bought the whole goddamn record! The future is lookin' up

He said no one knew what it was and didn't care. A couple who did said VH was overrated.
At least we're raising them right.

Last year my daughter was pissed that I wore my EVH shoes to school to pick her up. Yeah, I got a pair when they came out 'cause I ALWAYS SUPPORTED Ed over the years (fuck you all you twerps who say "we" didn't support Ed). Anyways, she wanted to die when I wore them. Never mind that I had tons of people that recognized what they were. Now she wants a pair too. Ahhhh...vindication at last

A lot more would have known had VH Guitar Hero been properly announced & released. Plus the timing on it came at the end of the craze. Had it been 12 months earlier.......


But EVH & co have never been real good with timing.
