The other problem is that the typical youtube commenter is so used to seeing acts that mime they are bewildered when they hear a singer hit a bum note. The only time they usually hear that is during the 'lets make fun of the mentally ill' early rounds of American Idol.

Dave seems to like talking to the sound guys a lot, "Fred" or whatever and fucking around with "turning him up" and shit like that ALL THE TIME, when he has a mic. So that being said, it makes perfect sense that he opted to use a headset so he can talk to his sound guys even when Eddie is killing his communication because you can clearly see him yapping to someone at the beginning of CHINATOWN. Great song live but jesus Dave, REMEMBER THE FUCKIN' WORDS!!!! That shit is getting old.

Hate to say it, the headset is growing on me. I'll take Dave anyway I can. Not a deal breaker.

Now it seems he is struggling alot and for some Godforsaken reason singing the songs in a higher register than is needed...
It is both confusing and a bit frustrating, even sad... I just hope it is a temporary condition and he gets back to at least 07/08 vibe...

He does need to drop down an octave. Particularly since that's how he sang them on record. I never went to a VH show to hear Dave sing. I went to see him jump out of the arena, get all the girls horny, and smoke the joint that I threw to him on stage!

Dave does appear to be pushing it all vocally up an octave... also noticed at this last show and the Henson show both he was trying to physically belt it out beyond his normal range to the point he was over-extending his torso and neck at certain points. You're not going to perform well if you are physically over-driving it singing... Passion and emotional performances are fine but as a singer you can't afford to push it until the rev-limiter kicks in too many times.

Clearly their sound system has enough headroom to where Dave could throttle it back 2 notches and still deliver powerful vocals. Dave's always been active on stage but he seems a bit overly hyper, tense and not fluid. Notice when he goes into his low baritone speaking parts how he stops moving and his body posture looks really relaxed. Maybe he needs to scale back the Red Bull or bull... and smoke the joint private parts threw on stage.
