General, you have a right to your opinion, but I disagree. The majority of your Vanhalen fan base are DLR era fans and they will have nothing to do with a compilation containing DLR era tunes sung by Hagar. Sure some VanHagar sheep will purchase this piece of crap, but DLR era fans strongly out number Van Hagar fans.Comment

Marketing nostalgia on TV can do well. It can also turn off music buyers who initially thought "their" band was not a nostalgia act.
You have to look at the audience for this product. Van Halen fans are split.
Dave era fans will not buy. Most Sam era fans have moved beyond this kind of music. And many others have downloaded the new songs and will not buy.
Clever direct marketing? For ROI, Perhaps.
