Ed seems very chill and serene yet enthusiastic on this tour. Nothing seems to phase him (spotlight fuckups, etc.)
He hasn't played this good in years. I was wondering if he'd ever be on top of his game again. He's kickin ass every fucking night.

This is the best interview I have ever read with Edward.

Wolfy kicks ass. All the respect in the world to him. He had to earn his stripes with the public, that is for sure....but he made it through that first tour, and came out on the other side totally kicking ass.

I have no complaints any more. Well, I wish they would officially release some old shows on DVD....but I bet Wolfy will get on that eventually.

Bassplayer can keep on loving on Spambot.

If it were not for Wolfy, we would not have had the past 5 years of live shows, and the new album.

FUCKING HELL! I GET TO SEE THEM IN 10 FUCKING DAYS, BITCHES!

      WOOHOO!

      Sucks about the big C.

I want it to go away and not come back.

      A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

      DO NOT SMOKE TOBACCO!

YOU WILL WIND UP IN AN EARLY GRAVE IF YOU DO!

My youngest sister was just diagnosed with throat cancer 3 weeks ago. She is only 45. She has been smoking like a fucking chimney for 20 years. CHAIN smoking.

If you are a smoker, QUIT! NOW!

Everyone who cares about you will be glad you did.

Notice in the profile and the interview they made it a point to mention he was smoking electronic cigarettes.

      Tobacco is evil, people.

God bless Ed, Wolfy, Dave and Alex.

LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN!

When Ed when through that weird scary phase I couldn't figure out what he was on. It wasn't just alcohol. Blow doesn't do that to you. It was a combination of prescription medication. Some of that stuff is very addicting and can really fuck a person up. The interview explained a lot. Ed cracked me up when he said he didn't know what demension he was in. I bet all of it is one big blur.

Every article I read about this band makes me more and more appreciative of Wolfgang and ALL of his contributions to it...

...and that's all I have to say about that...

Great interview... Eddies really seems to have changed, for the better.

            I'm only annoyed with this:

ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn’t thought about that. That’s some great music. They’re just on vacation, maybe. They’re off to college and they’re going their own way. Who knows?
"on vacation"... Mmmh... Better dropped for good in the bucket.

When the '08 tour picked back up and I saw them in NJ, Ed was clearly not himself. It was almost like he was in slow motion. Seems he was slowly working his way back into our dimension.

I know a lot of people around here say Uncle Dave. To me, Ed has always been that crazy uncle who gets himself into trouble perpetually. You know, the one who gets arrested on Christmas Eve or passes out drunk at a kids party. For all the trouble caused and baggage brought, there's still some innate lovable quality that has kept me pulling for him all these years. I too think this was an incredible interview. There's a part where he's responding to the question of how his father would have thought of Wolf, and he says something like 'I never wanted to hurt anybody'. Totally out of nowhere. Kinda gave me the chills. He is a genius and a guitar hero, but a regular human being too. The kind I would gladly call Uncle Ed.

Any chance the kid starts a band after the VH thing is done? And, if he does, will it have those crappy Cookie Monster vocals or will it be more of a VH clone?

                    good point mr. dante.

i could see him going in a classic rock / hard rock direction with really good players. what 20 or 30 something unknown mega talent wouldn't wanna play in wolf's band?

he might go get a doctorate in geology for all we know.. but speculating is fun!

I don't know...I'm hung up on that "It's gonna be a Double Album" comment he made in this article...that means...

...there's MORE new Van Halen that didn't end up on the album...and, it could be or is...already recorded...

After a 28 year gap...I have no problem with wanting more!

couldn't hurt to do it 2 years in a row!

it'd be hard to top adkot though, imho.

Glad to see him finally expressing some remorse for those variac comments.

Good Interview - Love all the Dave comments in the outtakes, cancer sucks, and if he doesn't remember whole tours with Hagar, he should consider himself blessed.

They'd be crazy not to cash in on this tour with a live cd with a couple of bonus tracks from the ADKOT sessions thrown in. But then again, I thought they'd be crazy not to cash in on the 07/08 tour with a live album - go figure. Still, it stands to reason that they'd have a pretty good head start on a follow-up album somewhere down the road. Next year? Hmmmm... why not? If the world doesn't end this December, they could call it: 'Told You We Were Comin' Back!'
