Ed's got health issues. Alex has health issues. Dave ain't no spring chicken.

These guys are closing in on 60.



It's not beyond the realm of possibility that they overbooked, then hit the road and only then realized they might not be physically capable of delivering the quality/caliber of show they wanted to if they kept up their scheduled pace and all their bookings.

Would it be better for them to have said fuck it, kept the bookings and turned in a bunch of lackluster shows?

In retrospect, the LAST time around I sure as shit would have preferred if the band came off the road once Eddie ran into his troubles. Yeah, it would have sucked if they had cancelled, but it would have been better than them soldiering on regardless and limping along with one of their cylinders not firing on all points. 'Cause I gotta tell you, they got no points from me for keeping the gig and my paying good money to witness an incapacitated Eddie Van Halen who wasn't up to snuff.

At the same time though how hard can it be? You play for 6 or 8 hours a week. First class treatment, waited on hand and foot, great healthy meals. Its not like going out in a van with 6 smelly guys, sleeping on floors with no showers, nothing too eat, and having swamp ass.

Props to DLR for setting the record straight, or at least giving us something to hang our hats on... I think it's fair to say we all needed to hear something, anything, and I am happy that it is a positive outlook!

Anybody know if those Soundwave Festivals are happening this year Down Under? Perhaps they'll make good on last year's cancellations! Doing those along with the potential cash flow from Japanese dates could make sense. VH rules US arenas, and have proven for decades that the calendar has no impact on a US tour.

My Crystal Ball thread was kinda modeled after The Stones, who seem to usually follow their own same timing every tour. Perhaps VH will do Australia/Japan and even more SE Asian shows very soon, then return to the US over the winter months here. South America in the first few months of 2013 is common, opening up the European festival circuit for Summer 2013.

I will be disappointed if I have to return tix for the 4 shows I had lined up, but I'm a VH Lifer, 110%, no-questions asked! I got some great seats, so I'm ready when called for duty!

My only criticism is that Daves video came 24 hours too late. Imagine the shit storm of bullshit stories & comments that could have been averted. But in old VH days we wouldn't have heard anything until June......2015. So they're getting it very close to right on target. Just off the mark a touch.

I am starting to wonder if the boys have a different opener lined up for a return to the States? Alter Bridge? Another of Wolf's pals? Scorpions? Maybe if they had a Scorpions opening up they could pull of 2 nights in a row (or 2 in 3 nights) in some cities.

Just listening to Dave's comments at the end make me think it is going to be different somehow the second time around. Different stage?

Probably way too early to be thinking about this but I don't want a better opening act if it means they get more stage time and VH pares their setlist down to 90 minutes or so. Seriously, that would really suck.
