The only thing I don't like reading about that soundcheck is where the band is talking about why they can't play different songs because of Dave........come on Dave.....give us a break.....

It's obvious to me. Because it's inevitable that eventually they'll bring up Bette vs. Dave, or something along those lines....

Stupid idiots at City TV are saying that VH canceled tour. Journalism at it's finest.

I do know that Dave nixed Light Up The Sky in Reading. Have not heard anything about the band members actually complaining about "Dave holding them back" to fans or anyone else.

Day gigs are easy compared to touring, fact.
J you are a decent guy from what I can tell but you really need to get out and get a clue on the real world if you believe what you posted...

Maybe your meaningless day gig isn't anything challenging... I've done the music business and band thing for many years. It's not heavy lifting especially at VH's level, definitely no big deal at the entry level. The most challenging part is managing your psychosis and addictions for the most part and for most musicians I've know... the addictions and mental bullshit are what takes it's toll not the labor of producing entertainment. The on the job risks are killer too... maybe bust a callus on your finger or strain your back lifting a speaker cabinet while drunk off your ass...

Frankly many of the best musicians I've known are the most non-productive lazy-assed pussies I've ever met... and those that do it for a living couldn't hold a day job worth a shit to save their lives... Meet the Van Halens...

Now go spend a day in a trauma center or on an oil/gas drilling rig or hell even a day at a Day Care center with 15 2-3 year olds... Hell you want to know 2 hours of intense pressure... try nursing a dying mainframe to life for a major financial company during Wall Street trading hours on a week day. Talk about performing for the nose-bleed area... Then compare a stellar 2 hour musical performance and how hard you busted your ass to deliver...

And you too seem like a nice guy, but please DO pull that bus over to the side of the pretentiousness highway ASAP and start looking for a clue yourself.

I worked in the music industry for over a decade, and also I've toured, dude - at the entry level on my own and larger level as a guitar tech - it's not brain surgery, but it's not a walk in the park either. And no one in the jobs you mentioned (or your "meaningless" one likely either) has likely woken up in a hotel room and had to check their itenerary to see what city they're in.

Again, if signals got crossed and someone jumped the gun booking dates when the band planned a break - they should take the break. Hell, if they feel they need one they should take it, rather than keep going and starting doing shitty shows.

You haven't lived until you have done demolition in a cement dryer for 12 hours running a 90 pound jack hammer in 110 degree heat and the dust is so thick you can't hardly see anything even with ventalator blowers running. Or relining acid tanks. That's fun too.

Oh, HELL NO - I got vertigo just watching that!! Granted, a touring rock band rarely has to worry about falling to their deaths on the job... lol

If so, Steven Tyler would have been dead a long time ago. He seems to fall off stage about once a week.

I have seen both ends. I have been an OA in the arena and I have also worked stage hand/ unload, set-up, help the ass hole guitar tech that yells at you, tear down, load semi's. It is all hard work. But I would rather take the part of the act any day.

Fortunately as yet no Aerosmith tour set design has called for a stage that is 1700 ft tall....
