I think if the days of DLR's kicks are coming to an end, they should spice up the stage a little bit!
And since Dave likes to slide around stage all the time, I have come up with a perfect centerpiece!
Van Halen should roll out one of these bad ass motherfuckers, and have DLR slide on it during one of Ed's solos!!!

Can't say I'm thrilled hearing the vocal choices Roth is making on those Japan dates.
Granted, youtube vids don't do 100% justice to the experience of actually being there in person even in terms of sound, but the way Dave was singing at those Japan shows sounds pretty much like he was singing in Tampa a little more than a year ago.
The rest of the band is playing well. Ed is still in good form. These are certainly good things.
I dunno if Dave is no longer capable of singing the tunes correctly - not even talking in terms of screams and whatnot, because THAT aspect of his style is gone forever - or he's sung them so many times that mixing up ranges is the only way to keep it interesting for him, or exactly what the deal is. I will say for myself that the way Dave is approaching the vocals now it's getting to be a challenge for me to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, because the results DON'T SOUND GOOD.
The guy doesn't need to leap around the stage or hit those nearly so high that only dogs can hear it screams for me to enjoy a performance. I'll grant those concessions due to age. However, if his approach in any given song is gonna be singing a few lines of a verse correctly, then mumbling a few lines in a lower octave followed by YELLING A FEW LINES IN A STRAINED HIGHER OCTAVE...not so much for me.
If he can't jump and he can't scream, the least he could do is just sing. It isn't THAT fucking hard, is it?Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment
