I'm 48, loved DLR VH since 78, hate Hagar yrs, I listen to DLR VH every day, never miss a few songs here and there, but come on, jesus Dave sounds beyond horrible, you can't deny it. Plus he's sliding round like a lounge singer, why can't he move anymore, he does one or two half assed spin kicks, he looks to be in great shape but doesn't move like it. Shame he just doesn't talk his way thru songs instead of trying to sing them cause fact is, he just can't. IT'S A DAM SHAME !!

As much as I like Stay Frosty --- I think releasing it as the first single would've made too many comparisons to ICM --- "Oh, the band is out of ideas and redoing all their old hits".

"She's the Woman" gets my vote as the single that should've come out first. Simple, hard-driving riff that is pure old-school VH. The core fanbase understands the appeal. Maybe it wouldnt make it onto Top 40 stations, but fuck them anyway. They should have also put more production into the video ---- it needed lots of sexy chicks and I didnt see a single one in the vid! For piss sake --- "Jump" video didnt have any chicks but the song was about jumping. When you write a VH song called "She's the Woman" it better have a lot of buxom broads in it.

"Beats Workin" is definitely a classic rock radio kind of song --- but not a good choice for first lead off single.

You can call me a tool all you want but you can't ignore the facts. I'm a HUGE DLR fan, HUGE !!!!! But I can at least face the facts. Nobody can take away his glory years but he's a shadow of himself, it sucks, it's a shame and it kills me it listen to him struggle to sing and attempt to move. I know he's 57 but theres other singers his age and older that fly around the stage just fine, it's like he threw in the towel Greatest front man ever, never will there be anyone who can touch him, ever !!

Funny, he wasn't "a shadow of himself" both times I've seen him this year. I remember posting about a comment made at the Henson Studios gig - he was KILLING - the audience was so small you could hear people talking between songs - someone says to their friend "Dude, Dave is singing his ASS off!", Dave heard them and goes "Hey, who said that? Thanks!" He seriously did sound amazing at that show - not 20-something Dave, but still kick ass. At the second Staples Center show I mentioned Bantonelli and I thought he sounded like he had a bit of trouble on maybe two songs, but quickly recovered - and was great overall, as was the band. So he had a few off nights mid-tour...singers who don't lip-sync do occasionally.

And as for the movement, I'm surprised a dude who's had back surgery can still pull of ANY of the kicks he does, much less at 57. C'mon, give Dave a break.

OK. First of all, Dave is 56, not 57. And you know what, vocally speaking, he was on and off on this tour, but hes not 30 anymore! I don't know if you caught him on a bad night or whatever but the videos on YT do him no justice, you actually have to physically see him live to experience it. He's a pretty decent dancer and has a lot of energy for a man in his mid fifties! He still does the spinning high kicks in the air, granted he can't get his leg to his side of his head like he used to but he can still do them!
PLEASE don't be like the fucking Chickenfoot sheepshaggers on Youtube that I have to contend with on almost a daily basis that do nothing but rip on Dave and tell people that defend him to go kill themselves.

I thought Dave was a spin kicking, shit eating grinning, flying kicking, mic stand splitting, singing his ass off toastmaster general that he has always been at the MSG shows.......every front man has off nights. Dave Roth is a legend.

My first reaction to She's the Woman was exactly as you described for Stay Frosty... out of ideas and redoing old material. On top of that the core riff isn't all that unique... it's about 1 note off of Molly Hatchet's Gator Country and real close to several other 70's/80's tunes.

But then I had to remind myself I'm not the average fan who's never listened to every boot you could get your hands on...

                            Gator Country ??

I sure never got that vibe, and I like that song...

I always thought the main verse riff for She's The Woman sounds a little like Outta Love Again at a different tempo.
