That was pretty much the final nail in the coffin for me....any last vestige of hope for Van Halen died when I heard that retarded shit.

        (Special) Little somethin'? Mmm
(Ooh) You can say what you like. It's all confidential. Whoa!

All you bad, bad boys. Call her up on the spank line. Huh!

I can dig where you're coming from. Not quite the way I feel about the album myself, but I could see where a longtime fan of the band would feel that way.

I mean, I like the album, but not every track on it is a home-run for me, either. And I will readily admit that some of the songs lyrically seem at times like excuses for Dave to string together as many "Zen Master Rothisms" as possible...although now that I think of it, wasn't that always Dave's approach to the lyrics?

He said they have demos that sound better...

Try the album in mono on a good system and it sounds better, especially on the low end...

I think it sounds more like Classic Van Halen in mono...

I though he said it sounded bad at Henson and that they re-recorded most of the instrumental parts at his place, more to his liking.

Yeah, but Ed and Wolf were discussing the sound of the album, is what I remember...

I'll see if I can find the interview or quote...

The basic difference between Diamond Roth and Hagarita Pussy Nugget is how they approached sex:

Dave made you feel like you were gonna fuck the prom queen in the back of a limo.

Haggis made you feel like an 8th grade pimply nerd calling a 900-SPANK line to get off.

I hink the recording is ehhh, think they tried a bit too much to play with the sound. I think less would have been more. It could be more crisp, but again I don't think it was a disaster either.

As far as the overall sound of the album goes, it could've had more "air" to it (read: less compression), but it doesn't matter much to me. I've been able to shut up a few naysayers with it... ("Chinatown", "As is" and "You and your blues" especially)

Although the guitars sound weird at times... Like there's a very subtle surf vibrato going on in the background.
My ears might be playing tricks on me...
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

Don't get me started on how terrible Hagar's lyrics were. But the truth remains Dave's lyrics don't fair much better

Demos always sound better, especially these days. The final mix seems to suck out a bit of the rawness...

Dave is the best! His lyrics are perfect for the genre he's practicing, they give the feeling of a perfect blend of fun, sex and rock. He is playful without being goofy. He is perfect! You just don't have any taste.

Edit: my post kinda sounds like a coffee commercial now that i read it again :D
