Been layin' way low since my refunds were processed last summer! Still holdin' out hope for more to come... Beyond Japan that is!

Seems I've only seen the wild card mentioned once by name in this thread, and that is Janie.

I'm thinkin' she's been a positive influence on EVH through these last 6-7 years and the band's resurgence. Between her and Wolfgang, perhaps they can "translate" what our man DLR has to say. They may be the cooler heads that prevail these days. Hard to disagree with what's come forth since 2007, although we're all hungry for more it seems...

Anybody know more about Mrs. EVH? I'm thinkin' she deserves a big Thank You for what the countless fans of CVH have gotten through this period of the band. We know Wolfgang is a big influence, and I'd say she must be too...

    I'm ever the optimist...

Janie has turned out to be a Public Relations nightmare...

It seems that Edwad has sucked her into Howdy Doodie Mountain hermetville...

I'm sure the thread will have turned twenty something ways by the time I'm finally making this post, but I gotta say this: I don't like this.

I wonder about how Ed takes Dave talking about this in an interview instead of to ED. But at the same time, he speaks to Al everyday, who seems to have no interest in doing anything that ED isn't on, as far as I know (These guys don't call me, so I'm just hypothesizing) but has always seemed to nudge Dave. "Yeah, Dave, say it!, Yeah Dave, do that silly dance you do!"

When your sister breaks up with a guy and he wasn't good enough for her and he was sorta nasty to her in the end and later on she starts seeing him again, you still could do without him and are disappointed. That's sorta like I feel about Michael Anthony. Maybe Dave's over his comments and actions, Maybe Dave hasn't read them, Maybe Dave's over himself. Dave had Billy Sheehan and still likes the simple basslines. Dave's right about Mike's voice, but I don't think Mike is gonna sell anymore tickets than they have already. Michael Anthony is the greatest complementary singer in rock and roll, that's it. Wolfgang's not as fun to watch, but he's way more important at this point, I think. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I'll smile any bigger or almost tear up seeing MA on stage with VH. AND I'd rather hear Wolfgang on bass on a new recording than MA. Ed's gonna let him do more. I guess Dave was just talking out of his head, but I'd hate for Ed to get pissed about some disrespect to his idea of the band as it is, or his son. That might mess up ME getting my favorite entertainment. Maybe Dave just wants to sucker Mike back into the band so he can get a little revenge, treat him like a hired hand, etc.

I also don't really think that Ed does anything going forward without Wolfgang being involved. I have a great son who's 18, away at school. We enjoy a lot of things together. Overlapping tastes in music. Just playing games on XBox Live with him is fun. Playing catch or a pickup game against people in the park is awesome! Can you imagine how Edward Van Halen feels?! And his son doesn't take away, he ADDS in my opinion. I can't see a recording or tour with another bass player, even the original.

Dave really needs to just talk to Ed, because obviously his priority is 1) Van Halen and 1a) Being active. Too bad he just used Rolling Stone to do it, now all the annoying speculation starts in the press. even my friend's father will be coming up to me soon with, "I heard that David Lee Roth is bad mouthing Van Halen and he's out" the way he did when they cancelled shows last year.

What sucks about being a big fan of these guys is that it always seems on thin ice and even when they look solid and united, we don't believe it. Keith semi badmouths Mick but you don't worry about it.

Hopefully Al gently sides with Dave and at least Ed records or writes with Dave. I also hope he doesn't lose it when Crazy From The Heat II featuring "Still a Gigolo" comes out and Dave and John 5 do a theater tour. How can he? He doesn't mind Tremonti. It'll probably be so far away from VH it wont matter.

And yes, I said all that fearful stuff not considering the HUGE value Diamond David Lee Roth BRINGS to Van Halen.

It's really not MIGHTY without Dave. On record, live shows or even interviews.

(I'm not even getting into "what about YOUR voice Dave?)

WTF does that even mean? How is she a "PR nightmare?" Because he doesn't attention whore every so often? You know that an actual PR nightmare is doing something horrific in the public eye rather than disappearing from it? Right?

Just wanted to point out how 90% of your comments here are useless shit and a boring and fucktarded...

You got that right! Damn, I think I've changed my mind on the matter about as many times since the thread started.

I particularly agree with your thoughts on Dave going to RS as almost a strategy. We don't know how many times he's tried to reach Ed personally, but we do all know that, drunk or sober, public conversations aren't Ed's bag. Even if he understands where Dave is coming from, he has to be thinking, "really Dave? Like this?"

I have to agree --- Dave seems really smart about his finances and I've never seen him splurge on lavish stuff like private jets and huge mansions --- his Pasadena mansion was probably bought at rock bottom market price from his father or perhaps he outright inherited it. There are even rumors he owns a lot of prime real estate around L.A.

It's hard to believe Dave didnt have at least $30 million in the bank by the time the 80's ended. All those successful VH albums/tours followed up by some solo albums/tours --- that guy was raking it in. I wouldnt doubt one bit if he's been living off just the interest on that stockpile of money since 1990. Anything he's done since 1990 is just "paying for dinner".

You're completely insane. I don't hate Wolfie but Ed's gonna let him do what? The only thing he did for the most part is what Micheal Anthony already had before as in case no one told you, most of ADKOT are just demo and reject material redos. It was a "different kind of" photoshop of Anthony off the material...

And fuck Ed. What's the point anymore in sucking his dick and hoping and praying he does something? It hasn't worked well since his essentially solo effort in 1998...

After a day or two of thinking about this, I have realized this is what makes Van Halen what it is..its become part of the VH "aura"..as much as the 6 pack and bootleg dvd's...I anxiously await Ed's response..

Spot on, man. And, as rock'n'roll partnerships go, is it that odd?

After all, I think Keith Richards wrote in his autobiography that Mick Jagger had a small dick - is that better or worse than saying: 'Hey, why can't we get Bill Wyman back in the band' ... ?
