Yep, agreed. I could upload in higher quality if I could get on to a wifi connection. Give me til Monday, my Unchained video was taken with a digital camera much closer to the stage than the one above.

Oh, don't get me started on butting heads with soundmen at gigs.. I remember I almost punched one a few years ago: Barely started testing my levels, and the idiot runs up on stage going "If your stage volume is gonna be that loud, I'm not gonna mic you!" only my fucking amp's master volume is on "2", and the bass player mere feet away on the other side of the stage is going "But I can't hear him..." ... some of them are sooooooo clueless. But then imagine that idiot eventually landing a gig running the board at a show of that magnitude...because it happens.

Right up there with a bass player (who plays guitar on the side) giving a lecture on how to dial in a great guitar tone on a Line6 Flextone III... by turning the low-end down to 1 and bumping up the mids to 7 and treble to around 9...

I can't understand how top pro musicians of Van Halen's calibre can get their gigs messed by such incompetents on the sound board...

"on the cheap", ELVIS says, but how could they run the risk of not sounding properly, hiring low-cost crews?

Who's to say they had the option of using their own guy? Festival gigs vary. Don't assume.

Exactly. Love how some peeps who've never been on tour (or have any experience in that arena) pontificate here about what should or shouldn't/ does or doesn't happen at gigs. For all anyone knows the deal could've been they show up, their gear's set up and they play, check please, thank you, good night. Far as I know no one's seen the contract, right? Just sayin'...

Yeah, I remember back when I was in Japan that the bands that would come over would complain that the Japanese crew would basically "take over"....

No idea how it was down under, but certainly a possibility that the normal VH crew was limited in what they were able to do.....
