My source is trustworthy but as for my confidence, let me explain...
My confidence in my source is solid. It's my confidence in Ed and Dave that falters. They have to be able to reach an agreement that is appealing to everyone in envolved. Can they do that? Who knows? They couldn't do it before. THEN, they have to be able to WORK together. Can they do it? Who knows? They couldn't do it before? The one difference is that they want to retire Van Halen and they KNOW the only RIGHT way to that is with ROTH and ED knows that is what the FANS want. So, he has been working on being more agreeable and more peaceful. Hence... Maybe they will pull it off this time.

Now all we need is for Eddie and Alex to offer Dave reasonable and acceptable terms (which I suspect they haven't, hence the Van Hagar reunion) and I'm sure it can happen.

However, Eddie and Alex will also need to rediscover their long lost respect for their fans and be a lot more honest about their music, and level of performance to make it all worth it. If they can do that we'll all have one hell of a time!

if any of you guys think ed would ever go out on a last note of the once great VH with DLR at the helm you are sadly mistaken.

it will never happen. 96' is when they could have made history and rocked the world again and they were at a perfect age to make it happen again. at this point why ? ed missed the boat on that one and nobody but us cares. if people would buy the tickets once DLR is anounced ? sure but will it happen. with history already writing itself and showing proof of what will never happen..... I can be pretty sure this band will go down in history as a once great band that turned love pop and crashed to never be the classic line up they once were.

I'd be there in a heartbeat for a Dave/VH reunion like the rest of you, but I'm not going to obsess with it. For those who have seen recently, Dave has a great band of talent and puts on a great live show in smaller, more fan friendly venues (IMO). I'd be satisfied to see Dave do what he did last summer every few years: Tour with his current lineup and possibly put together a great guitar driven rock album with them.

I really think Eddie has. I have seen 3 BOBW shows and at each one he was humble and most THANKFUL to the fans... He really seemed genuine and he kept saying.. " We ain't nothin without YOU"

I think that Ed does not crave the spotlight as much as you all say. It is just not his nature. He is more introverted, and thus comes off snobby. Dave is the exact opposite of Eddie. That is why they compliment each other so well, and why they create such perfection together. It is also what makes it so hard for them to work together.

The differences between now and 1996 are many, but the rift is also wider, and a comeback will be more difficult. I believe all four of the boys are up to it.
