If they could somehow make sure all athletes received the same amount and some schools didn't pay more then others I wouldn't have a problem with it. But only like you are saying, not enough to make them rich, they are working towards their future while in college just like anyone else. Just seems to hard to police and keep fair.

Hey I want to be clear with you man. It's nothing personal. I don't really wish that to YOUR family. Right now I wish it to everyone's family. I wish the entire world just fucking ended right now. However angry I was last week is nothing compared to what I feel right now.
Really I just wish suffering on all the hateful and ignorant people in the world; people like you. Yes, I respond to hate with hate. Fuck you.Comment

and then you have this, makes it all to hard to pay players anything.Comment

I still think it should be an either/or situation. A separate college football league is fine with me...but you dont get a free ride through school if you are getting paid...And the pay cap should not be ridiculous..You dont become a millionaire playing college sports....at best you get enough to live on your own all year..perhaps if you stay and graduate a large grant is given and you get out cheaply.
I think the paid athlete shouldn't even be allowed to be a college student while he plays for the college team --- his full time job is playing football for a max. of 4 years.
After he finishes --- he can go to college as a full-time student (if he doesn't get drafted into any pro leagues).
I agree about the cap, too --- make the salaries comparable to the baseball minor leagues --- you ain't there to become rich --- just hone your talents and get noticed by the pro scouts.Comment

I think the whole idea of paying college athletes a small stipend is a dead end street. No matter how much you give them --- it will never be enough. Do you think egomaniacs like Cam Newton and Reggie Bush are going to be fine thinking they're only worth $250/week? The abuse of the system will continue as always.
Separate the whole football program from the university and NCAA rules and make it a profit venture operated by the schools. Athletes are paid employees --- students are students.Comment

The injury factor plays in..unless you are a complete idiot, you are gonna opt for education over athletics...paid to play is a big risk..a couple of years and out if you are skilled and hope a dirty Ndominic Suh fucker doesnt blind side you..Comment

I don't feel the stipend system for a student-athlete is ever going to work --- they will continue to find ways to shirk the rules because most of them will think: "I'm making this school a hell lot more than $250/week with my skills".
Totally separate the athletes from university life and make them paid employees --- they get game checks and aren't allowed to be students.
They could still get their college degree after the max. of 4 yrs. in the paid league. There's lots of people age 22-26 going to college these days so they would fit in nicely.
Easy as pie.Comment

Of course with the majority of college football programs, the school is bigger than the coach or any other high ranking official. What happened at Penn St. would have had action taken upon this crime immediately afterwards and some would be shitcanned and sent to prison ASAP.Comment

This thread is proof that Ped State fans don't truly get it. If anybody needs a reason why the University needed punishment listen to what their fans and students still say about this whole thing. Every day I see somebody bitching and moaning about their poor fucking team and/or school I want to vomit. WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS THAT GOT RAPED?!?!?!?!?! Until you get that point everything else is just pointless to discuss.gnaw on itComment
