Uh it seems to me that that rule is if the ball goes FORWARD. Same as in the NFL.

And if it's not, then it is the STUPIDEST rule in the history of football.

If the ball went back, stayed in play and was recovered it would be spotted at the point of recovery right? Then why have a rule that is different for the last two fucking minutes of a half?

The rule is "forward point of possession" whether the ball goes forwards or backwards...if you have possession...then lose it forwards out of bounds...

or if you have possession...then lose it backwards out of bounds...it's the "forward point of possession."

Yippee. What a brilliant rule. I guess if a ball got knocked backwards, kicked a dozen times, back to the 40 yard line and then went OOB, it would make sense to put it where the player's forward motion stopped. Real brilliant rule.
