I like Ted AND Elton, I have paid for tickets to see them both. Both men are equally entitled to their opinions, I am equally entitled to disregard them entirely as I don't look to entertainers of ANY stripe for their "wisdom". To them all, shut the fuck up and sing, act, catch the ball, drive the car or make the putt. That goes for the ones I agree with as well as the ones I don't.

Why do we give so much more of a fuck about that which is not worth giving a fuck about and not shit like Afghanistan?

Difference there of course is that Ted's music is often ABOUT his right wing beliefs, where as Elton doesn't sing about being gay, or even about Liberal politics. At least not that I'm aware of. I haven't really paid much attention to his recent music, and like his early 70s stuff more than anything else. Primary reason for this is probably because Bernie Taupin (who isn't gay) writes Elton's lyrics. By the same token, Many of Nugent's best songs were the ones written & sung by Derek St. Holmes. (I have no idea what his politics are)

Probably a more apt comparison to Nugent would be Pansy Division, who don't leave much doubt what they're singing about......

Both are very talented and legends in their own right. Both really flew the freak flag of flamboyantsy as well. As long as the Nuge and Elton can still play I would have no problem seeing either.

I have always thought Dereks voice was along the lines of the greatest in rock and roll. Ted can sing but he is best like Edward Van Halen on guitar and melody or back up singer .

I don't know why Derek never had a solo career of much ..must be better as a team player with the Nuge, cause that stuff is great.

I'm not really familiar with any of his recent stuff, but the songs I am familiar with don't make any statements, other than "I like to fuck and play guitar", which IS a message I can wholeheartedly endorse.
