I don't need to question it. I just know it's bullshit. They didn't vote for "the black guy", they voted for the Democratic candidate, and probably would have, regardless of what the gender or skin color of that candidate was.

As for Libertarians, I don't think they can become a mainstream party because they're so damn schizophrenic. And by that, I don't mean they're literally mentally ill (though Gary Johnson clearly looked like he was off his meds at times during that last debate with Jill Stein) I mean that they seem to take the best of the Democratic Party (personal civil liberties) and combine it with the worst of the right wing ideas (the whole Ayn Rand economic bullshit trip). And that combination isn't likely to bleed a lot of support from the two "big" parties.

Over half of the country doesn't care about the economy and could care less even more about being fiscally responsible and having a government that can actually balance it's checkbook. Reichland Security - GONE. Not cut it slightly, cut it completely. This country did just fine without that fascist agency.

Pentagon - If the Grover Norquist concept of shrinking something to the size where you could drown it in a bathtub ever applied to anything, it's the "defense" budget. The US military needs to be exactly big enough to defend THIS country. And not a penny more.

Do those two things alone and you save billions. Eliminate tax loopholes and THEN roll back the Chimpy AND Reagan tax "cuts" for the tax dodging rich, and you will no longer have a deficit. Except for the one that may very well be necessary to implement the long overdue infrastructure projects.

He also ended the war in Vietnam, ended the draft (by not renewing the law) and he opened relations to China. He never gets credit for those either.

Back to the thread - Obama won re-election and this is why I think its great!

1) The GOP will have to revamp how it does business. They will no longer be able to field the “All White Guy” ticket.
2) The GOP will have to look at the last two presidential races and note that they fielded two candidates that stood for NOTHING. That was the fatal flaw and determined how both of those elections turned out. People do not get behind a candidate who stands for NOTHING.
3) President Ego just bought the “legacy ticket”. It’s sink or swim time on the policies that President Ego has put in place. How or if we get out of the current economy, and changing unemployment levels will be a large part of what historians based what is written about him. The excuse of “It is Bush’s fault” will no longer resonate nor be valid.
4) Immigration reform is headed towards the American public at light speed.
5) As it is cheaper to pay the penalty and put people on the government’s healthcare system how long do you think it will be before the majority of companies, local governments, and state governments stop providing health care insurance to their employees after the health care law kicks in? That should be an interesting day in America...LMAO.
6) We’ve printed, spent money, and created debt for 6+ years at levels never seen before. Two pipers are calling and will need to be paid. Their names are interest rates, and inflation. Carter nor his legacy survived them when they came calling. Should be interesting to see what President Ego can do or implement to stop the same fate from happening to him. I don't think that either side of the table is going to yield to the other to stop what's gonna happen from happening.
7) President Ego said he'd let the Bush tax cuts expire and would not extend them. The cliff of a 2nd recession will start if he doesn't renew them according to many economist. Should be a very interesting next couple of months. Wanna bet he renews them? I bet he does just like he did before. He'll sign it. He doesn't have to run again so he'll live up to his promises on the subject about as well as he did the last time they were on the table.

AND THE BEST THING ABOUT THE ELECTION RESULTS FROM LAST NIGHT

Nancy Pelosi will be voted out of her leadership role in a few short weeks. I'm never gonna have to listen to that bitch again! That almost makes last night palatable!

I am sure SOME black voters are doing that, but your argument assumes too much. Black voters would have overwhelmingly supported the democratic candidate regardless of his race, just like they always do. In 2004 for example, 88% of blacks voted for John Kerry, who is as much of a rich white guy as they come.

It's impossible to know one way or the other, of course. Skin color may have been one factor for some, it may have been the only factor for others. But how do you explain that 88% of black voters cast their ballots for John Kerry in 2004? The reality is that black voters have voted for Democratic candidates by an overwhelming majority for a very long time.
