On another note, Harry Reid says he won't make the Senate vote on any legislation that he knows will fail in the House.

There are quite a few Senate Democrats that are opposed to some of the ridiculous measures Obama/Biden will be proposing, like another assault weapons ban and limiting magazines to 10 rds.

Obama's proposals are pretty much DOA.

Dear Congressman Forbes:

My name is XXXX XXXX, a constituent of yours, and I am writing to you about gun control and the proposals requested by President Obama.

While the recent gun violence is tragic, I believe the intended erosion of our citizens’ rights to keep and bear arms is just as tragic. What is needed is a comprehensive dialog on all aspects of the violence issue and not just a knee-jerk reaction by passing more, stricter gun laws. One cannot legislate the thoughts of a crazy person. Limiting the size of magazines for firearms is not going to limit gun violence. Banning certain firearms is not going to solve the problem. I do not believe our citizens should have to register any firearm with the state or Federal government for a national database, and I don’t think our law-abiding, gun-owning citizens should have to be finger printed or have their pictures taken like they are a criminal being arrested. I encourage you to vote against any bill that contains any of these measures.

Thank you for listening to my views and I look forward as to how you follow this matter.

W.H. Releases Letters from Little Kids Pleading for Gun Control

The White House today released letters from little kids pleading for gun control, just hours before President Obama is to release a comprehensive proposal to limit guns and ammunition. The letters were released to the Associated Press in what appears to be a coordinated effort to help shape the narrative the day of Obama's announcement.

"Three days after six teachers and 20 students were killed by a rampaging gunman at their elementary school in Newtown, Conn., an 8-year-old from Maryland pulled out a sheet of paper and asked President Barack Obama for 'some changes in the laws with guns,'" the AP reports.

"It's a free country but I recommend there needs (to) be a limit with guns," Grant wrote in a letter dated Dec. 17. "Please don't let people own machine guns or other powerful guns like that."

In the days after the shooting, children around the country had the same idea as Grant. They put their feelings about the massacre on paper and sent those letters to a receptive White House.

"I am writing to ask you to STOP gun violence," wrote Tajeah, a 10-year-old from Georgia. "I am very sad about the children who lost their lives. So, I thought I would write to you to STOP gun violence."

Half way through the article, the AP admits, "The White House shared three such letters with The Associated Press, from young writers who seemed to agree that Obama should do what's necessary to make it harder for people to get guns."

White House spokesman Jay Carney announced yesterday that Obama will be surrounded by little kids when he announces his gun proposal later today.

Another letter reads: GO FUCK YOURSELF, OBOMBA!

Eleven-year-old Julia, who lives in the District of Columbia and dotted the "I'' in her name with a heart, wrote that she has four brothers and sisters and "I know I would not be able to bear the thought of losing any of them." She said it should be "very hard" for people to buy guns and closed by acknowledging that Obama can't do it alone.

"I know that laws have to be passed by Congress but I beg you to try very hard to make guns not allowed. Not just for me, but for the whole United States," Julia wrote, signing the letter with "my love and regrets." She will also be at the White House on Wednesday.

The White House appears not to have released a single letter to the AP in opposition to President Obama's gun proposal.

White House now requires ‘We the People’ petitions to have 100,000 signatures

President Barack Obomba’s deputies have quadrupled the number of signatures that petitioners on the administration’s “We the People” website must collect to get an official response from the White House, following a series of popular, provocative and disrespectful signature drives by his critics.

Some of the petitions sought approval for states to secede after Obama’s re-election, while others called on the White House to disavow executive orders that restrict gun rights, or to deport CNN’s British-born, progressive host Piers Morgan.

“Starting today, as we move into a second term, petitions must receive 100,000 signatures in 30 days in order to receive an official response from the Obama Administration,” said an early evening Jan. 15 statement from Macon Phillips, the White House’s digital strategy director.

“This new threshold applies only to petitions created from this point forward and is not retroactively applied to ones that already exist.”
