I was joking--relax! David Hasslelhof--LMAO At least Hagar had some (lameass) rock credentials.

I think it is going to happen next summer.

THEN and only then can we REALLY answer this question.
Van HALEN; the band; is finished. Alex has pretty much seen to that. The vibes that I've been getting are that Ed actually would like to work with Dave again but Alex stands in the way of that.

Ed would never go against his brother. This situation is very different from 1985 when Ed was trashing Dave at every opportunity he got. This time around, Ed hasn't uttered a bad word about Dave. Alex is the only one continuously slamming Dave in every single interview. Personally I think Ed is just happy to be alive and playing again. I really don't get the sense that Ed wants to be playing with Hagar anymore.

The only solution I can see is for Ed to wait another 4 years until his son is old enough and maybe do a project with Dave along with Wolfgang on drums.

Eddie really looks like he's emotionally unplugged himself from the band. He hasn't been doing interview like he's done in the past to promote the album and tour. By all accounts he hasn't had much interaction with the rest of the band members both on and off the stage during the course of this tour.

Hopefully, Ed will put a mercy killing to the Van Halen band name before the legend diminishes any further.

              Just to clarify:

Is Roth up for another reunion attempt? Yes. He's been putting in the roadwork since 1999. He's in the physical condition to do it, and one bright spot of a somewhat repetitive Roth solo setlist that relied heavily on classic Van Halen is that he's been in effect rehearsing for a classic Van Halen reunion since 1999 (wonder if this strategy was, in part, to show the brothers that he's not rusty and washed up....as it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect EVH and AVH would have seen some live footage of one of the Roth shows over the last several years). Agreed that according to this years Classic Rock interview, Roth would still make another attempt to reunite with VH down the line again.

Would also have to trust that Roth would be a good barometer if CVH tried to reunite and the rehearsals indicated that it would end up anything less than earth-shattering: if it seemed the group couldn't reunite in a manner that would defy expectations and give the audience a maximum bang for their buck, I think Roth would pull the plug (Can't really say the same about Hagar).

The Stones deserve to be lumped into the category I did because all their entire career now consists of nostalgia. They've been flogging their back catalog for years and the last album they released that was consistently good from start to finish was Some Girls. Sure, albums since have summoned a couple decent tracks with each release, but one or two passable tracks don't make up a good album (see Emotional Rescue, Undercover, Dirty Work, Steel Wheels, Voodoo Loungem and Bridges To Babylon........still have room in my CD player for Tattoo You)

Psycho Circus didn't suffer from too much participation on the part of Ace and Peter, agreed. But it was no more than a speed bump for KISS in the late 1990s, because KISS were giving fans exactly what they wanted in terms of the live shows and the lineup, and they had done their homework with vigorous rehearsals. All of that had the net effect of bulletproofing them when Psycho Circus tanked. Van Halen 3 had no chance in part because the lineup people wanted to see wasn't there, and the same applies to the Best Of Both Worlds (although the piss-poor quality of the music, even by a Rothless Van Halen's own diminished standards, didn't help).

Finally, I'm not putting down anyone who still holds out for a classic reunion. I'll gladly eat my words if Roth returns to the fold AND the reconstituted CVH pulls something spectacular off (Hint: the entire band would have to show signs of regeneration. Roth fronting at 100% while the other three are going through the motions doesn't count). I'll even forgo my earlier qualification that a reunited classic VH would have to create some incredible new material to boot (it's not a realistic expectation at this point).

Order me the crow with some humble pie for dessert if they can pull it off, and the drinks will be on me comes time for the pre and post- concert tailgate party.

Totally agree on the point you make about Eddie not wanting to work with Sammy. I've felt from day one that Eddie was pushed into doing this by Alex. I'm sure Alex, Mike and Sammy all worked really hard on Eddie to get him to agree to something that he never wanted to revisit and the results are there for everyone to see.

                  NO EFFORT.

First they record three abysmal new songs, then can't be bothered shooting any videos for them, ignore the media, come up with arguably the most appallingly put together greatest hits package ever seen in rock, and put in very limited preparation for the tour.

You could be forgiven for thinking this is Eddie's way of protesting because they made him do it!

Check out the effort that other bands put into their music, videos, tours and image.

Van Hagar is a joke in the rock n roll world.

Well, if classic Halen were to reunite, it would be of interest to see which state or region the majority of members live in or nearest to, then arrange a missive shindig of Rotharmy members to attend one Van Halen concert en masse.

Kind of like the same idea floated about having a RothArmy convention and pulling together the tribe to one locations from all points across the country. The globe, even. Everyone attending the concert than having a mass blowout celebration.

Shit, if you're gonna dream about classic Van Halen reuniting, dream big! Personally, I'd dig seeing a reunited Halen play and seeing it with many of the fine folks I've met on this site, without having even met them before face-to-face. Can't think of a better group of people who'd appreciate the show more than we would.
