Natra, I am funny as hell, and I do realize it of course. One can't possibly be as funny as me and not realize it.

Thanks for the feedback, I knew you were a pal!

Now this wasn't a special post, because I didn't preface it with "whatever," but I was feeling just a little ordinary in this one. Sorry.

thank you so much...now...why don't you celebrate with your sheeps over there at your site and talk about how bad dave's voice is on 75% of the songs he performs live?

I said it's bad on most everything he has to wail away on. He sounds great on the blusier stuff. I'm not sure of percentages, you can figure that out for me. Sorry a criticism of Dave bothers you big boy. Dork.

Don't you dare lump me in with the trash on this site that comes here to bash Dave endllessly. I am honest about where I think he excels and where I think he struggles. If you can't handle that, then too fucking bad.

I'm pretty sure I've given Dave enough support over the years to have the same say on his career you do about it.

He must feel sorry for your Links bullshit. You're kind of like Jerry's Kid with a web site.

ok...let's get a bit serious here...I'm not bothered by criticism of dave if it's legit, but when I listen to the japan boots I can hear him sing the =VH= stuff better than I hear him sing it on the us-fest or other boots from the old days...

he lost the scream...ok...if that makes 25% of the singing, I'm with you...

Funny, but you don't seem to share the critical analysis of Eddie's degenerating guitar playing. Where's the honesty in that? Where's the critical thought's on Sammy's singing? Is his voice great? Is Dave the only one aging here? He seems to be aging very gracefully. No you just slam him and beat off to your Cabo-jack-off queen!

Um I don't? I said about 50 times that Ed struggled in places on this tour. Did I not? I am completely honest about his playing, that's just ridiculous. The show I went to (which I am sure you did not) in LA, he sounded pretty solid. How you would know if he was or wasn't, were you there? I didn't think so, so stfu.

I'm also honest in the fact that I am guitar player who loves to hear Eddie play, and I'd rather hear a half-assed Eddie than a half-assed Dave. Did I not just say that? I don't owe you an explanation.

I don't give two fucks about Sammy's voice. Yes his voice is weaker now, but I don't even care. I never liked his voice to begin with, I just learned to deal with it, because I enjoyed listening to Ed the musician.

I'm not hear to talk about Sammy, I could give two shits about him.

Ok Natra. There is no question Dave is putting far more effort in his singing now than he ever has. And that's great. Dude no one sounded good at the US Festival, they were all blitzed out of their mind. That's not a great example, but I get your drift.

Yes the scream is gone, but even that doesn't bother me. The boots I hear when he really has to belt it out, stuff like "Hot For Teacher" or "Unchained," it just sounds strained, to the point where there's very little depth to his voice. Listen to the old boots. Although he's not putting in the same effort he does now, you can definitely hear that his voice has much more depth and tone on the songs that he has to go full bore. I see a lot of improvement from say "DLR Band," but I just think he's struggles on those real rockers.

Now on the blusier stuff, his voice sounds great. He has that low growl now, even more than when he was young. There's just so much more shape to his voice when he's singing in that lower range. While I didn't care for "Diamond Dave," as an album I thought his voice sounded really good, because most of those songs were in that blusier vein where he really shines now.

Those are my criticism on Dave's voice. I don't know how much more legit and fair you want my comments to be. I support Dave, I wish he'd do more solo stuff live. I wish he'd put out a rocking record like "DLR Band" again.

You think I give Sammy's voice this much thought? I could care less. I just like to hear Ed play, and if it takes Sammy to get me to hear that, then that's the fucking way it is. Is it the same as 1982? Is Eddie as dynamic as he was then? Of course not. But there are very few musicians I enjoy hearing, and I'm not going to deprieve myself of Ed because Sammy's standing next to him. I just won't sorry.

Yeah and? I'm not allowed to like Dave if I don't want to hear him over Eddie? Is that it?

So if Dave isn't my absolute favorite person on the planet, and I don't insult Eddie every two seconds on here, that means I am less of a Dave fan?

Just clarify all of this for me. I want to make sure I understand the position I need to take here.

Why is Dave having powerful vocals so crucial for you? Dave was never about having powerful vocals anyway. Sammy can scream as loud as he wants, but Dave can still deliver a tune with more ferocity and attitude than boring Sammy ever could. The argument about Dave's voice is old Van Hagar propoganda that nobody cares to listen to anymore.

A few weeks ago I was watching the Stones perform 'Satisfaction' from their 'Tatoo You' tour and Mick's voice had no strength in it at all. But who fucking cares? Like Dave, Mick's vocal style is unique, instantly recognisable, diverse and interesting.

Dave brought so many other qualities to this band. His cool lyrics and ear for a hook were the key ingredients for bring out the great musicianship of the brothers. And he was THE major influence in making CVH a great visual entity that helped make them the coolest band ever. He helped give them that dangerous, edgy quality that appeals to younger generations. They lost all that with Sammy.

You should be as pissed off as the rest of us that Eddie is wasting his talent working with someone he has NO chemistry with.
