That's absolute horseshit. Dave and the bassplayer NEVER spoke after he quit VH in '85 until '96 when Ed put Dave on the phone to talk to Anthony.

I'm not cheering on some fucking 15 year old kid who had nothing to do with this band other than being lucky enough to be shot out of his fathers pee hole. If he tours with them I hope it flops. If the ball is in Dave's court then he better make damn sure that Mike is on the stage with them otherwise they can kiss my ass motherfucker!

I have to agree with you.

plus that was fucking funny!!!! pee hole....... lol

Actually, it has been claimed that they hang out and drank back stage on the "Sam -n- Dave" 2002 tour...

Dave turned down Mike's request to play with him, but both did speak often...

            True Dat!!!

Hence, you're speaking about 2002 whereas the prior poster claimed the late 80's which is absolutely false.

              Michael anthony

I totally agree with all the pople who say how anthony SHOULD be there, but the bottom line is he wont. IF all you people consider yourself TRUE VAN HALEN fans than if michael Anthony is not there you will Still go!!!! Why? If Dave happens to agree to sing...how many damn times have u seen Dave and Eddy playing int he last 20 years? 0! How many times cna you expect it in thenext 20 years? Probably not much at all.

Stop being so greedy and stop convincing me you would rather see a full lineup of Steely Dan than a 75% Van Halen

              Merry Christmas

Fuck Ed. Fuck VH unless it is GREAT. I am not going to see a bunch of old men ruin the legacy of CVH unless they can really pull it off. I know Dave can. Wolfie? F off

                  [i] off. I know Dave can.[/B]
Have you seen/heard his range on the live bluegrass stuff?

It will take a very good state of the art harmaniser, great backing vocals and maybe even a little help from pro tools to make this baby fly!

If this project does not happen in 2007 it never will.

All of this is wierd. All of a sudden Ed's cool with Dave but has a problem with Mike?....Because Mike is out playing with Sammy? All the while Dave isn't even replying? Ross Halfin went up to Ed's house to do a photo session but won't say who he photographed?
                    Three things are certain:
                    1) Edward seems pumped up to kick ass again and with Dave by his side.
                    2) It seems that when rumours were circulating years ago (around Fair Warning) that Ed wanted to kick Mike out of the band and get Billy Sheehan are true.....as a matter of fact, there was an EVH interview where back in 1980 was bitchin' about how Mike didn't contribute shit or even give an opinion and has just purchased a Porche and a house.
***What I don't understand is why Ed let Mike in the band for so many years putting up with this situation. It's really a shame because Mike background vocals and harmonies are an essential part of the Van Halen sound. This is part of the problem with the 3 album.
                    3) Lastly, I believe that Dave is being very careful this time around since we are well aware of the "trickery" dealt by the hand of the VH brothers. So many days have passed by and we really haven't heard much of Dave, so he must be covering his ass big time.
If I were Dave I'd let my lawyers work out the details while I hit the gym to fine tune my moves, get a vocal coach to help me smooth out the rough spots and get the best hair transplant that money can buy so I can look my best and prove to everybody that I AM VAN HALEN!!
                    LONG LIVE DAVID LEE ROTH!!

Yeah, that's about the size of it...

                        We'll see...

It always was the Dave and Eddie show, studio wise. On stage, it was of course a much different story.

What I don't understand is why Ed let Mike in the band for so many years putting up with this situation.

Dave went directly to bat for Michael at least once (I'm inclined to think more than once, personally). After Dave was gone, Mike got to be good friends with Sam, as Ed was for a while when Ed wanted Van Halen to sound more akin to REO Speedwagon, Journey and Survivor...

It's really a shame because Mike background vocals and harmonies are an essential part of the Van Halen sound. This is part of the problem with the 3 album.

Very true, although with all the problems Van Halen III had, the absence of Mike's backing vocals and harmonies is rather minimum in the overall scheme of things...

                        3) Lastly, I believe that Dave is being very careful this time around since we are well aware of the "trickery" dealt by the hand of the VH brothers.

Yup. They'll never have another potential payday like 1996 would have been; they all probably know that....

So many days have passed by and we really haven't heard much of Dave, so he must be covering his ass big time.

                        I'm sure he is.

If I were Dave I'd let my lawyers work out the details while I hit the gym to fine tune my moves, get a vocal coach to help me smooth out the rough spots and get the best hair transplant that money can buy

In regards to moves/voice, he's fine...who cares about his hair? Why is that relevant to anything?

so I can look my best and prove to everybody that I AM VAN HALEN!!

                        LONG LIVE DAVID LEE ROTH!!

So let me see if I have this right?

Ed is inspired because Wolfenstein digs the Dave era stuff and Wolfenstein probably told his dad, they kicked ass with Dave.
                          Must of floored Edward?

                          Ed's first thought.
You better be wearing a cup juniour

                          Second thought
Fuck, his last name is Van Halen, can't do that.

                          Third thought,
I need a drink, no no, can't do that!

                          Fourth thought,
"FUCK, did I fuck this up myself?

Sixth thought, no fifth thought, damn Smoking Loon!
                          YES !!!!

                          Sixth thought,
Well, fuck Michael Anthony, he never contributed anything!

                          Seventh thought,
                          I better call Dave!

                          Eighth thought,
Fuck, I better be wearing a cup!

                          Ninth thought,
                          Better call Alex

                          Tenth thought,
No tenth thought, Ed just passed out

I did start this post with a particular thought in mind, but somehow like Van Halen I have completely derailed the purpose.

Oh ya, I have waited 22 years for Edward and Dave to get together and patch things up and I will be fucked if I give it up because the bassplayer is not there!!

And all the "Oh, Mikey's backing vocals were a major part of the CVH sound.
Have you actually listened, his voice is way off key to Dave's?

People who are not Van Halen fans have told me that Dave's voice is actually better than MA backing vocals on the live bootlegs, because MA is so far off from Dave's voice?

I believe Edward stoppped singing backing vocals around WACF and people always thought MA was the only one who did the original backing vocals himself and gave him undeserved credit? Now if you tell me you have seen Edward sing the backing vocals also, well I guess than it is not just MA backing vocals anymore that were a major part of the VH sound?

If MA is not there and the band is better, I am there.
If MA is not there and the band is shitty, I am not there

                          I AM, a CVH fan

Dude it's calledHarmony. He's not supposed to sing Daves key.

I believe Edward stoppped singing backing vocals around WACF and people always thought MA was the only one who did the original backing vocals himself and gave him undeserved credit?
WTF? Where did you "read" that? If you actually listen to the back ups ,it's the combination of Ed's and Mikes voices that gave it that uniqueness . Not Mike's alone. It's organic.
