If Dave decides to do this it would only be for the 1 000 000:- per show, not for closure, and it would prove that Dave has as little respect for the classic line-up, as any of the others.

Maybe I missed it, but in glancing over this thread I didn't see a single soul mention Mike's major VOCAL contributions to the signature sound of classic Van Halen.

I'm with Pojo and Terry, remove Mike and my wallet stays shut. Have Dave agree minus Mike and my respect for him drops greatly.

We can talk all day about what an asswipe, liar and coat-tail rider Sam has been before... because it was mostly all true.

However, as I've expressed before it is evident to me that Sam has manipulated the situation once again by effectively pulling Mike out of the mix. No way does he want the original four together again to once and forever prove him to be a footnote - especially at this juncture with the HOF looming.

My two cents, like it or lump it.

I'm gonna try and see from Dave's persepective.

My feeling is that I think the whole Wolfie thing is a bust and as bad as Cherone fronting the band.

But let's try and be in Dave's shoes:

Dave has a chance to front "Van Halen" again. He has a chance to (potentially) be in front of thousands again, playing arenas and not clubs or festivals.

Dave has a chance to be on the cover of a rock magazine again.

There is MONEY to be made (maybe lots of it) and Dave has a chance to make some more.

Dave is not a spring chicken anymore. He is in his early 50s. While he still has the ability to get out there and sing, perform, etc..---that ability will continue to lessen with age.

Is it all worth for Dave to throw out the offer to be lead singer of "Van Halen" again because Micheal Anthony is not involved??

What does everyone think?

I think people are bullshitting about not going because Mike isn't playing. Mike is the one member of the band that is totally replacable. He has his highlights, but his vocals really aren't that good live. His bass lines are not very complicated and he hasn't really played bass on a Van Halen recording since the late 80's/early-90's. This is a David Lee Roth board not a Mike board. Most of you call Mike a sheep anyway. I say if Mike not being in the band is what it is going to take to have Dave back in the band then fuck Mikey and bring on the tour.

It could be Billy Sheehan, Wolfgang or whoever else on bass...... As long as Edward, Alex and Dave are in the band it's Van Halen in my mind.

I'm still not anywhere near conviced this is really going to happen. I won't believe it until I have the overpriced VIP seats from Ticketraper in my hand, I'm in my seat and the lights are going down. If it does happen and you don't go because Mike isn't with them then that is one better seat I'll have for the show.

I will go, no doubt about it. Sure I'd like to see Mike there, but if not, ok. I just want to see EVH and Dave together live. So far, I've only seen it on bootlegs and videos. Do I think it will last? No. It will probably wind up like KISS where they will part and go on after a tour or two.

I'm optimist though. The Eagles did it. They hated each others guts and got back together. Granted one of them has been asked to leave. As long as drugs and alcohol run EVHs life, it probably wont' last. Moderation is key.

Most of us don't feel the same about that.

That is mostly due to the fact that we can't imagine a soon-to-be 16 year old playing alongside Ed, Dave and Alex.

Its a bizarre scenario. Much like Cherone fronting VH.

When we first heard that, it was 'WTF??? That homo??'.

And the results spoke for themselves.

Granted the difference here is Dave being there and Mike being replaced.

But no one in the music community really believes Wolfie can pull this off.

As much as I HATE the concept of wolfgang touring, I would be there! There are two Dave's 1)The BADASS , INTELLIGENT, Street smart business savvy COCKY DAVE and 2)The Insecure, CLOWN ACT Dave! I feel if he concedes to "wolfie" being on tour, there will be COMPROMISE positive for us I.E Release of box set and/or dvd concerts, cd's etc. He was the MAIN MARKETING DUDE for CVH! He can't let us down!!!

IMhO, how people are gonna react to this if it works out, is gonna be decided by the music - if Dave is gonna agree to the Van Hanson line-up, it's most likely because he believes the music will speak for itself. Now, you could say "Dave is desperate, yatayata", but he's been 'desperate' for over a decade now, inspite of which he's maintained the highest level of integrity among the cast of this charade, don't think anyone can argue with that...
So...er...what's my point...yeah, the music will speak for itself - I don't see the point in speculating and being hasty in stating your stance about the whole thing - let them win you over...or lose...

Well IMO, Mike had no problem playing from 1985 up till 2004 without Dave in the lineup. Why shoud Dave be feeling sorry for Mike now?
