A lot of talk has occured as to whether or not Spam should be inducted into RRHF, thought a thread dedicated to the issue might solidify current thoughts and generate opinions from others.
So the views seem to be as follows:
NO: Sam is the one who ruined Van Halen with his high-pitched squeel, shit lyrics and embarrasing stage antics. He should be included in the same breadth as the other four, and his inductions taints the whole damn thing.
YES: They are inducting VH as a whole, not CVH. You don't have to like Van Hagar to admit that Sam was part of the band for a long time, and the band made and sold a lot of records with him (albeit not as many as they did with Dave.) Sam, whether for good or bad, was a part of Van Halen, and this deserves to be inducted.
What do we all think of this?
And where does it leave Gary Cherone? He was in Van Halen too, if he can be cut out, why can't Spam? Not all the members of other bands who've been inducted into the RRHF were invited: The Ramones, Black Sabbath....
Why should Spa be any different then?
