Well, we know they already have the bass tracks and backing vocals laid down.

I'm not middle aged...atleast not yet...I've got a couple years to go.

No because they love everything Ed does. They're blind sheep regardless of what Ed does or who Ed plays with. It doesn't matter.....if hip replacement, neck brace and burger & fries dumped Dave and went out as a trio tomorrow...they'd be "now that's cool"

Then again it's funny how much of an about face some of the Rothtards such as yourself have done towards Ed since Dave has been back vs 10 years ago

True, I did give Ed a pass for the original Van Hagar years and maybe I shouldn't have but atleast it didn't have Ed's kid in the band.

I can't say I blame Dave for still doing it but it just confirmed what I thought all along. That he really didn't give a shit about the band. Just him and Ed. To me, they were the most important part of the band originally but they weren't the whole band.

It's pretty sad when even KISS can pull off a better reunion then CVH.

May not be that simple... just rerecording the originals.

First you got the copyrights, song writing & publishing rights. Then add on top of that Warner Brothers retained exclusive distribution rights for the whole Van Halen catalog... they'd want a piece of the pie and clearly would not want their catalog/earning capacity watered down by the game versions.

For those interested in master tracks, these games are totally hackable,
so you can extract any master track from those songs listed above.

hackable, or can the file just be pulled off the game disc?

Why is Weezer in Guitar Hero Van Halen?
Blame Wolfgang.
by Erik Brudvig

August 10, 2009 - Last week, Activision announced the track list for Guitar Hero Van Halen, due out this December. Along with more than two dozen Van Halen songs, the likes of Weezer, blink-182, and Tenacious D are also included. Wait, what?

IGN caught up with the head of music licensing at Activision, Tim Riley, to find out how those bands came to be a part of Guitar Hero Van Halen. Turns out it was all Wolfgang's doing.

"At the end of the day, it became Wolfgang Van Halen, who is a serious Guitar Hero player -- probably the best Guitar Hero player that I've ever seen including people at Activision...They knew that, the Van Halen brothers and David Lee Roth, so they were like, 'Ask Wolfgang what bands he wants in.'"

And did David Lee Roth's massive ego have anything to do with the lack of Sammy Hagar songs on the disc? "David Lee Roth, I don't know that he demanded anything," said Riley. "That guy was so cool and so pleasant to work with."

He continued, "In my mind we never even talked about it...I don't think the band ever said 'no'. I don't think we ever requested a single song or ever talked about it. It certainly wasn't David Lee Roth saying there was no way or this is a mandate."

So what is the Holy Grail of bands that Activision would like to get either in a band or in their own game?

"Led Zeppelin," said Riley. "Easiest question I've been asked all night." There isn't any movement there just yet, however. "We're working on it. It's something that I can't guarantee anything, but I will keep trying."

Buy Guitar Hero 5, get David Lee Roth and company for free...

August 11, 206 PM · Robert Workman - Video Gaming Industry Examiner

Guitar Hero 5 just picked up even more steam, even after the backwards compatibility news and the inclusion of the Man In Black, Johnny Cash. Activision announced today a killer deal for those of you who pre-reserve and pick up the upcoming music/rhythm game, slated for release September 1st.

According to the official offer page, when you order Guitar Hero 5 and follow the simple email or mail instructions, you'll receive Guitar Hero Van Halen at no additional charge. Granted, you'll have to wait six weeks in order to get it (processing time), but you'll still receive it sooner than the game's originally set December 22nd release date.

That's not a shabby deal, actually. And considering that former Van Halen band mates Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony were snubbed from the final product, this might give the Guitar Hero game some due credit, even for free.

Head on over to the official Guitar Hero page for all the details. And get ready to rawk.

Funny to hear the crowd chanting "Ed-die Ed-die" at the end of promo vid above. Whose idea was that? lol
It looks cool aside from obvious snub of MA.

I can understand the displeasure over Mike's omission from GH-VH but what the fucking hell are some people in the so-called 'gaming world' or 'music world' are having a hissy fit over the fact that there are no Van Hagar songs in the game.

WHAT THE FLYING FUCK are these people on????

Let me say that again: VAN HAGAR SONGS.

Holy fucking hell.

Seriously, I guess people are that stupid if they want to have utter shit like Right Now or other crap represented on a game that is supposed to showcase the guitar first and foremost.

We all know Van Halen's most innovative and best material were on the original six albums so why are there people complaining about no Van Hagar?
