And I think even if they got Ted T. involved with the recording it would probably only be for a track or two and the band will do the rest themselves.

Down Under, our major national radio broadcaster, Triple M, is now reporting on their website a Van Halen tour here in early 2011. See below:

          Van Halen Aussie Tour 2011?

Here's some awesome news for all you classic hard rock fans out there. Van Halen are hotly tipped to be doing a tour of Australia next year. And we're talking the 'real' Van Halen including the jumping David Lee Roth on vocals and six-string god Eddie Van Halen.

Our music reporter Nui Te Koha gave us the rocking news this morning. "Big, big rumour. Van Halen with David Lee Roth, early next year."

The band's new album due out in March next year is their first with singer David Lee Roth in 25 years and "the tour will follow shortly after that".

Eddie Van Halen told US Rolling Stone last year that his band’s reunion tour through America in 2008 was a massive success. They played 74 shows and the tour ended up making $US93 million.

"We are a band,” said Eddie Van Halen. “We had a lot of fun – Dave was a blast. I’m looking forward to getting on it."

I think this information is being leaked to build anticipation. It could be a sign that the album is complete and they are happy now to start letting people know through the media without the fear of letting us all down - again. I know, wishful thinking...

Panamark must be stoked over this!

IMHO, we should hire the Trailer Park Boys to kidnap EVH and bring him back here for questioning.

And thank you BuzzKill News Desk! They may as well just do Janie's job for her. Now she won't have to bother with the trouble of putting out YET ANOTHER "no comment" statement! '

Of course most of us presume anything not directly from the horse's mouth is potentially BS, but it makes you think at least in some capacity that *surely* not every media outlet is that sloppy...surely they would do some "Fact checking" - you know, the kind where their source tells them "Yea, it's good. My guy's got a buddy who once went to a concert with the dude who used to be VH's Roadie's roomate in college, in 1973! He's for reals!" ...oh... yeah..

Now that sounds more like MelodiCrock than VHND. Of course, when I think of the VHND, I'm thinking of the old days when Grant Fisher ran it. Haven't really paid much attention to it since he let it go. Mostly because there's not any Van Halen news all that often.

Well, Janie hasn't said anything regarding the new album/tour rumours as a result of the Warner/Chappel statement. And VHND debunking the news is not exactly a legit source.

What is amazing is how much Van Halen is still relevant. Once news broke of a possible new album and tour with Dave -- pandemonium ensues.

Its as if VH knows they don't have to publicize a damn thing or even update their useless website -- just say "Van Halen" and "David Lee Roth" in the same sentence and the masses will come.

For one thing, there has been no press releases at all from the VH camp since the New Years wish late last year. The "no comment" was not issued, it came about via a Rolling Stone reporter calling High Profile Media, and getting a very brief comment from the band's befuddled so-called publicist. The fact is, there is no "official source" involved at all in these reports, and about all the VHND can do at this time is to point out how fishy some of these stories truly are.

Of course most of us presume anything not directly from the horse's mouth is potentially BS, but it makes you think at least in some capacity that *surely* not every media outlet is that sloppy...surely they would do some "Fact checking" - you know, the kind where their source tells them "Yea, it's good. What sloppy media outlet? This story mushroomed through the repetitious re-posting of a dubious article put out by Warner/Chappell media, that addressed the Van Halen brother's publishing deal and fleshed out the article with a few facts and some speculation about the group's current activities, which were completely unconfirmed. This "story" was then picked up, mostly by blog sites that somehow have been elevated to the status of news-brokers in the age of the internet. There is little if any fact checking being done these days, and if in the event of rushing to fill a column for that day's story things are found to be wrong, there is never any form of journalistic responsibility in place in the first place to warrant any sort of follow up correction.
