At the time I thought that Steven Tyler could have worked because he was Bluesy like Dave and wrote cool lyrics like Dave.
Pojo's still right though. Nobody.
"If the American people had ever known the truth about what we (the BCE) have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched." - Poppy Bush, 1992
Nad maybe Give in to me would not have been such a rape song....
"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. - Some come from ahead and some come from behind. - But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. - Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!" ~ Dr. Seuss
I'm not so sure that a show opening with "The Warrior" or "Goodbye To You" would have been worse than "There's Only One Way to Rock", but it certainly would have been extremely odd and insanely awkward.
And considering the talk that EVH wanted her to be more than just the singer in the band, this could have lasted much shorter than the Cherone era.
Fuck all that Patty Smyth(e) bullshit. I know it almost happened...but there's no fucking way drunk Eddie would have thrown that hot (at the time) whore out there in direct competition with Roth. They'd have been laughed off the stage. I know Jimmy Barnes and that fuckstick Billy Squier were involved as leads as well...but christ...what a fucking sloppy mess that would have been...
I did like the idea of the band rolling out several lead singers for an album...although I'm not sure that Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford would have been at the top of my list.
Now...you roll out a one-off VH album...with several top-notch lead singers:
Mick Jagger
Steven Tyler
Robert Plant
Roger Daltry
Ozzy Osbourne
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley
Freddie Mercury
Then throw in a couple of eccletic acts...like James Brown...shit like that...
As a one-off...I'd buy that...
call it: The Van Halen brothers present...or some gay-ass shit like that...
"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."
I always thought it odd that Ed mentioned Mike Rutherford, considering the guy didn't even sing lead for Mike and the Mechanics. Now if you want a real singer, you'd need to include Billy Idol, too...

Billy Squier would have worked far better than the round "rocker".
And his gay fucking turn around that time would have fit perfectly with Ed's pink fucking parachute pants.
Fuck Scott Weiland. Fucking asshole. I get trashed all the time and still go to work. And my job sucks ass. -ODShowtime

If you ever heard Mike Rutherford's solo album from the early 80's, you'll know why he hired other guys to sing for The Mechanics. Or let the balding drummer sing for Genesis, for that matter......
He must have been getting vocal lessons from Ronnie Wood

Tell me about it. The only time in my entire life that I ever felt even remotely sympathetic for Alex Van Halen was when that fart-knocker was dancing, prancing and bending over in front of him on that VH III tour. Talk about something uncomfortable for all concerned.
