I didn't hear any crappy online previews. I purposely avoided them, as well as any discussions. I wanted to be able to drive my car and listen to the entire album in a lossless format, with fresh ears and nobody's opinions in my mind.
It was worth the wait!
Also, re. Tattoo: seems the strategy was/is to allow time for things to build and save the "deeper" singles for later.
"What we've been doing, which is great and certainly cost saving, is I train in the sand pit in McDonald's. I do a few laps. I go through the tunnel a few times. The kids don't mind if I smoke. Plus, when I'm done, lunch is right there."- DLR 2003
Stay Frosty has ben lurking in there his whole time? Summabitch!
*What the fuck?! I can't even quote your frosty guy correctly. And you think I'm gonna be able to find this shit in my own computer to use? You make me laugh sir. You give me way to much credit.

We all listened to it while watching that crappy video they made. So the video made it sound worse than it is. If you can forget about the video & just listen to the song it's great. Hard to unsee things though. First impressions & all.
Plus, as well, another thing, & also....the very first listen we got was a 30 second clip that was the worst 30 sec clip you could pick to represent the song. Again, first impressions linger.
Yeah, the 30-second clip was totally underwhelming. But a few days later, after I was thinking 'shit', my brother called me and said the clip was really misleading.
Wasn't the best vid, I grant you that. As someone else on here said at the time - if tney'd shot a vid of some abstract shit, or even strippers sliding down a pole, it would've changed a lot of people's perceptions of the song.
So according to that Adeles sales doubled due to the Grammy's otherwise Van Halen would have been #1 quite easily.
That show did waaay, More than I thought I would or could. Looks like all numbers not all in. Actually, ADKOT hung in there, Against a pretty big onslaught. Tough to hang against all the TOP 40 Bullshit. I though Macartney might move to #2. That ain't gonna happen. Guess a band not around for 3 decades, Hanging in there in the top five is a nice accomplishment. Only DLR/VH could have pulled it off. Of course, The record Rocks, So all is well.
Just because I have no power: They should have released "You and Your Blues" first. Would have hit the chicks, the VSpam fans, and let us real VH fans build to the rest of the album.
VSpam Fans would love the riff, the Chicks would have dug the beat and the harmonies, and we would have loved the fact that that was the best way to sand-bag them over "Tattoo".
Getting rid of you and your Biebers right in time for Summer.... Window Open Top Down...that girl smiling at you again.....
Damn where is that girl?

Reason: In fact I am going to listen to it again.
Can't Control your Future. Can't Control your Friends. The women start to hike their skirts up. I didn't have a clue. That is when I kinda learned how to smile a lot. One Two Three Fouir fun ter thehr fuur.
I've encountered the same thing. Some friends who are more casual fans heard Tattoo and said it was just OK. Then they buy ADKOT and unamimously say that it's awesome. After my cousin heard it he told me it makes him want to crank it in a 1979 T-top firebird. When's the last time any new CD made you feel like that? lol...
There's plenty of juice in this CD. A couple of more singles at least that will turn some heads. Tour hasn't even started folks! Decent start...now bring out the heavy hitters...
I'm not too worried about whether or not ADKOT goes #1. It would be nice to see, but really doesn't matter. Seeing as Kidz Bop 21 is #5 right now, it just shows how much of a joke it is. I know it's a good album, we all know it is. I could care less if I'm the only one in the world who bought it. Interestingly though I keep seeing this ad beside youtube videos.

I still don't understand & no one has tried to enlighten me as of yet.
Grammy telecast was Sunday night. Billboard sales cutoff is Sunday night at midnight. Are they saying that in the 2 hours (or less) after the Grammys ended that they expected enough buzz from this fat chick to drive people out to their 24-hour Walmart to snap it up as fast as they could? I figure people watch the Grammys in their sweats on the couch with a blanket. Not in any type of mode to head out for some last minute shopping trip for something they can easily get the next day.
Or is it that last 2 hours of online album sales? Either way I don't see it happening that way. If she retains the #1 spot it won't be because of the last 2 hours of Sunday night.
Good point - hadn't thought of that one. VH deserves to be no. 1!!!

Yeah me too. Cool ad. Mine have been coming up as the bar on the bottom 1/8 of a video.
