they literally make the decision that it's easier (safer?) going without clipping off, rather than the extra work of unclipping and reclipping every few rungs

I have claustrophobia, so mining wouldn't be my calling :-) I went hiking through a dark, narrow tunnel once and started to hyperventilate. Had to run out of there in the dark.

No, not on 7/9. All of the first leg - up to and including New Orleans on June 26th - is still on as scheduled. All of the dates after that are POSTPONED; the shows will still happen and tickets are still good, but the new dates have not yet been announced.
