To me, giving a free pass to Ed means to casually giggle and blow it off like dust in the wind when he says something offensive about Dave. You're enabling him to rewrite VH history by portraying Dave as merely hired help --- not someone pivotal to the whole operation.

I'm enjoying the hell outta ADKOT and this tour --- already been to 2 shows. They kicked my ass for 2 hours and I left with a big smile on my face. Ticket money well-spent. Mission accomplished.

I just can't ever be comfortable when Eddie's twisted delusions allows him to diminish Dave's important contributions to Van Halen. Those statement about "Dave's a disease" or "Dave's a toothache we needed to extract" or "Valerie shoulda pumped out another kid to replace Dave" ---- that stuff gets my blood boiling. I lived through the '78-'84 era ---- I saw the HUGE influence Dave had on the music, the attitude, the swagger, the fun, the optimism ---- and that shit is just as powerful and timeless as Eddie's riffs.

What about that other USA Today quote ---- "I guess I always thought I entered the wrong business." What the fuck is that? We all know that entertainers get nervous before a show --- but Eddie "entered the wrong business"? The dude just says a lot of weird fucking shit ---- and there's nothing wrong with calling him out on it. He's a grown adult ---- he can take the hit.

You don't think playing in front of large crowds in arenas is a tad different from playing in a studio or rehearsal space? He had played exactly zero shows before being handed the job. And let's be honest he was at best OK in 2007-08, and it wasn't a question of talent or potential, but rather experience. But please, nepotism was the driving force behind that and the very existence of the band.

Now as I said earlier, I don't really care HOW they got there, I just care THAT they got there. I'm not at all complaining, just commenting. And yes I'll always believe that if the money and backing of a promoter and fans weren't an issue, someone related to Eddie or Wolf himself would be the singer. Very happy that's not the case and again, I'm not complaining about what we've gotten since 2007.
