You guys are really beginning to remind me of KISS ex-fans. The kind that fucking complain about everything. "I ONLY WANT THE ORIGINAL LINEUP!!!!! WHERES ACE AND PETER?!!? (Michael Anthony in this case) PAUL CAN'T SING ANYMORE!!!!! (David Lee Roth in this case)"
The party line is that this is how Classic Van Halen exists in the 21st century. If you don't want to accept it (WARF and ELVIS) ABSOLUTLEY NO ONE is stopping you from abandoning ship.
You are being a Dave apologist.
What's wrong with constructive criticism?
If Dave has time to do that boring ass Roth Show...and study japanese...and train in martial arts...and fuck with that dog...and make short films...and whatever the fuck else he is doing, why doesn't he seem to have time to put more effort into Van Halen? Why isn't he studying these performances, and doing something about the way he is singing these songs? Why isn't he working with a vocal coach?
WHY THE FUCK DOES IT SEEM LIKE HE IS MAILING IN SOME OF THESE PERFORMANCES?
Maybe we are just expecting too much out of Dave these days.
I am still going to the Wisconsin show, and I will still have a great time.
I see it both ways. I'm greedy and I want things to be perfect and plentiful. I also know that it's never quite gonna go down like that with this band, so by default, I fall in line with the old 'it is what it is' form of acceptance.
As in must accept as is. Someone was trying to tell us something.
It's a tough call because these guys are getting up there and the songs still have so much energy and power. I can't hate on Dave too much because the dude just makes me happy but I do wish he would make some better vocal choices. When he sings low it sounds great and lends itself well to the tunes. The high stuff is dangerous cause its either pitchy or doesn't mesh right with the music. Would like to see him move around a bit more on stage. Doesn't have to be spin kicks but in some of the Nagoya footage, he was just standing there. Who knows? Maybe he was hurting that night.
Seriously... That was one of the best shows I've ever had being a musician. Thank you Tokyo! I'm eternally grateful!— Wolfgang Van Halen (@WolfVanHalen) June 21, 2013
David Lee Roth's the greatest motherfucker who ever lived!

Hey, I saw the first 5 World Tours, so I have expectations! No, I don't expect them to be the same as they were in 1980 when I took this pic of Ed. But I do expect them to have the same swagger and attitude that made them the baddest motherfucking band on the planet!
The really tough thing about it is, when you are there, you are so into the show and the music, that you get caught up and don't even consider any of this shit we are bantering about. But when we watch it on video, it allows us to over analyze and critique more thoroughly.
I just want Dave to work as hard at Van Halen, as he seems to be doing with other stuff. That's all. If I believed these last few performances were the best he's got in him, then I could accept that. But I don't believe that. I believe he has more than he is displaying, in him. Maybe he is bored, or burned out. Who knows? Maybe if he could get Ed and the boys to record a "new" album, he'd be more rejuvenated. Again, who knows?
