Tweaked my back, so took the day off; so sitting around watching Cato's vid... agree the vocals (lead and background) are spotty in parts. Seems Wolf can't hit the 1st highest note of the harmony in the chorus of "Jamie's Cryin'". Can you? I can't either. The band is killing, and regardless of if he's taking too many liberties with the melodies for the tastes of some, Dave's voice sounds more powerful than it did in 2012, so that has to be a plus. It's the 2nd show of this leg, and once again people are over-judging camera-phone vids. People are bitching too much. 3/4's of these dudes are pushing 60.

The bluesy guitar/vocal interaction Dave and Ed and are doing is cool as shit, and was never there before this incarnation. Also calling that a plus.

And seriously, with the Stones comparisons - which I can see, especially as they continue (Wolf is Daryl Sturneymer or whatever the F the guy that took Wyman's place's name is), but tell me the Stones haven't been phoning in performances (with far shittier vocals) since the 80s...

If Dave has time to do that boring ass Roth Show...and study japanese...and train in martial arts...and fuck with that dog...and make short films...and whatever the fuck else he is doing, why doesn't he seem to have time to put more effort into Van Halen? Why isn't he studying these performances, and doing something about the way he is singing these songs? Why isn't he working with a vocal coach?

Maybe we are just expecting too much out of Dave these days.

I am still going to the Wisconsin show, and I will still have a great time.

Compared to how he sounded a year ago in America, who is to say that he HASN'T used a vocal coach and prepared for these preformances?

Musically, the 3 Van Halens and a Roth lineup actually works. A 3 Van Halen's and a Samantha lineup like the Dave haters want will NEVER work. It'll only be a matter of time before Hagar stabs Eddie in the back again.
