I am bummed about the cancelled dates, I had planned to go to at least one more show but the guys have to do what is best for them, their health, their bottom line or whatever. I love Van Halen and I would have gladly taken what I got this year in any of the twenty seven previous years. If there are more dates, awesome. If there is another album, that's awesome too but nothing can diminish 2012, the year when the mighty Van Halen ruled the earth once again!!!!

the good thing is, that I am a Dave and =VH= fan for over 30 years now...and there is NOTHING that could make me hold my breath again...I found some kind of fatalism concerning this band. I got a great album (did I mention that I had it first?) enjoyed most of the tubes and I am at peace with that band...from now on I just take things as they come...if they come...

but hey...it's van FUCKING Halen and we know that as long as those motherfuckers are still vertical...anything can happen...

          Am I missing something.

So everything has been pointing to them taking a prolonged hiatus and then touring Japan and possibly Australia. None of these dates have been rescheduled. Ed says something special for next year....

They played 50 dates. Gave us an album. All sorts of interviews and goodies.

I can understand being upset if you wanted to see them and put out some money...but for the love of god the complaining and gnashing of teeth is a bit perplexing. I tell you what, if they cancel dates in Japan THEN you can wonder whats up. Otherwise VH has told everyone EXACTLY what they intend to do. Nothing has changed. Van Halen fans act like a dog that's been beaten by it's previous owner but for god's sake people this is a bit on the ridiculous

I personally think you all are overreacting. It's not like Eddie and Dave are fighting again and VH is breaking up, thats just Sammy Hagar bullshit. They're going to tour in Japan and Australia and hopefully, by '13 they'll be back on home soil to do more stuff.

You can all give up on VH like a lot of fans did in 2004 and 2007, but I'm keeping my faith in them. They may have given us bullshit, but Van Halen finds a way to carry on, no matter what.

Some of us can't tuck that away inside and have to let it out...
Don't lay all your hang-ups on everyone else. Speak for yourself. It does work for me. But I'm old and been around the block, so I know better.

WTF does this irrelevant statement have to do with anything? Who's sitting around waiting for anything? Who's sitting around letting the actions of a band decide if they are going to be happy or not?

I'm as independent at they come. People who lay all kinds of expectations on others are dependent on them as to how they are going to feel. I don't give a fuck about these cancelled shows. I'm having a great day. Got all my weekend chores done while it was still cool this morning so I'm free as a bird. I let my shower massage take advantage of me a while ago. In a bit I'm going to see Matthew and Channing take their clothes off in Magic Mike. Then I'm going to go to a grad party and then go out with friends. Life is good.

You got an explanation. It just didn't live up to your expectations. Get it?

Yes, yes it is! Let it go and be happy!

BTW...I'm not saying it's not perfectly normal to be disappointed if your show was cancelled. There is just no point in jumping to conclusions and then getting upset based on conclusions and not fact. Give them a chance to make their plans for what's next on their time table, not yours!

It's fucking time we all meet up in one big group, as opposed to the regionally fractioned groups. No excuses. No pussing out like Full Bong did in Toronto.

Sorry if I did this wrong. I have not yet "started a thread", and wasn't sure where to post. I know this is news that we all here already knew.

If it makes anyone feel better, I really think they'll be back. Last weekend Eddie joked around with our group at soundcheck and he was in a super mood. He even asked if we had any requests. My mouth fell open when he did that. Later that night, the chemistry between him and Dave appeared to be good. They played off of each other, joked and laughed, and at one point Eddie kissed Dave on the cheek. Two guys that hate each other do not act like that.

That being said, Dave sounded great the first part of the show. By mid show he began to have some trouble and the last two or three songs were really tough on him. Check YouTube for the Houston version of Women in Love. It's obvious on that one that his voice needs a rest.

                              They'll be back.
