    Neither a great case scenario.

For decades we've seen hours become days become weeks become months become years become decades and for what?

"I got enough material for 10 albums."

Then we should all be talking about the 16 pack on our CD shelves.

I personnally think that the ''shut up time'' is over for Dave as per his contract with VH, he was under the microscope since 2007 and everything he said was monitored, now in my mind he's a free man again, no more ties, he will talk, gives his true opinion on all things in VH world in an effort to speed up the process, Dave is still addicted to fame and he knows damn well that the time is now for everything. as for the money, IMO Dave's background made him smart enough to ''hide some Mula'' elsewhere, I'm sure he's got way more than what people think he has.
Like he mentionned in the interview VH is completely unknown to a whole generation and they need to get in there, somehow they just can't...he and al are right about all those festivals and in order to get that market and prolong the VH history they will need to do a lot more than what they did on adkot.. they need to work together and act like no one knows them, re-invent the whole thing all together.
I will gladly support anything that Dave puts out even if I know that he will never be by himself the icon he was before, that he can only be with the bros, period. the same goes for the bros...
Dave's still got the flame no doubt about it, we need to find out if the king of ten fingers has the fuel to spark things up

Didn't Ed say he didn't use 5150 much any more because it reminded him of drinking or something?

Excellent post Franksters.....I will say one thing I found very few lead singers or great band members who put out solo work or form a new band to release some stuff that isn't going to ever be on the original bands song list..generally isn't up to par with what was...if you know what I mean.

Because, we look for that, what we saw before.

No-one will ever be the Icon that they were, even if the new venture out is excellent such as the EUAS Band ( could be the finest "other half, going on walk-about band member venture" ever inmop, by any R&R musician)...we ask too much from these guys and gals, I fear.

Dave, has a varied back ground has little fear in trying some new venture, win, lose or draw, and he works damn hard to make it not just a cash grab, and Ed just wants to, write, arrange, play guitar ( I am putting words in his mouth)..and with Ed that is his finest hour and he knows it there is some greatness in sticking to ones guns.

I also look forward to DLR mixing it up and any level, a play, a opera, a movie, a after school special..lol... I'm Down.

At the US Festival, Dave introduces Ed as the king of six strings and ten fingers.

Wow Carrot. You're posts are way more understandable these days. Less to decipher. A nice upgrade if you will.

Ed's health has been discussed but Dave is clearly feeling urgency and sensitive to time.

Any possibility this is more than usuall ADD hyper Dave and sloth like Eddie conflict and the urgency is Dave's health? He alludes to his health, age, combined with his pill rolling hands and inability to sweat on a hundred degree stage while in multiple layers of clothes. Just wondering if maybe more context than usual not being put out there.

I'd say Dave is wearing his own health issues out on his sleeve a bit more and more these days. Crazy From The Heat (the book) opens with how banged up his body is and that book is about 15 years old now. "You should see my x-rays" definitely furthers the tale that he plays hurt like your more admirable athletes.

I highly doubt Dave has $40 million in cash assets... he owns a house in California and a couple of dogs. Residuals from royalties is small change... they aren't selling millions of records per year... nor getting much mainstream radio play. The 2012 tour grossed $44.9m. After promoters, venues, ticket-bastard, vendors, trucking companies, buses, plane rides, roadies, and living expenses... I'd highly doubt anyone in the band pocketed more than $4-5m each. After taxes that amount shrinks a good deal.

I suspect Dave not only wants to get out and work but needs to for financial reasons. I'm not saying he's broke or bankrupt in any way... Just assuming he's burning through money at a damn good clip.

Just maintaining his California house and paying taxes is more than most of us spend per year. An apartment in New York city is damn expensive... hell it costs more for a parking space for 1 car in NY than I pay for a mortgage on a 4500 sq ft house. Tokyo is not an inexpensive place to live nor is traveling back and forth there... then add salary and expenses for our DDE rep plus whatever/whoever he pays to produce The Roth Show™, whatever he's paying for art training, martial arts, interpreters, etc... Plus the man has to eat...

It boils down to a simple adage I live by... working pays for my living. Not so much based on what I earn but more so it consumes so much of my time I don't have the time to spend the money. Dave's got too much time on his hands...

Ed banged his body up too. Getting wild and crazy on stage while drunk and high chances are you are going to damage some things. Plus Val said Ed is pretty much done with it. The only reason he went on the road was to play with Wolfie. She said that is the only reason the tour happened.

Most people's assets aren't in cash. It's usually securities and real estate. Dave's home in Pasadena is probably his biggest asset and that actually is a pretty good one. It's a historical home that is well maintained in a good established neighborhood in Pasadena. Even in currently screwed up California it will hold it's value over the years. Dave can always sell the house and downsize if he needs to and hopefully he hasn't drained his equity already by borrowing against it.
