No carrot. What we want is for Dave to care about the legacy. To care about how he is performing the songs. He doesn't have to perform them exactly as they are on the albums. He never has. But he does need to stay in the same range as the originals. He does need to stop that lame high register crap. There are spots on the live album that prove he can do it. That is what is so frustrating. He is choosing to sound like shit on some of these songs.

If Dave wants to do a Dancing With The Stars audition, he needs to go to Dancing With The Stars and do it. Don't do it on my time and dime, and don't do it on Van Halen's. He needs to concentrate on his singing, not his fucked up act.

I believe letting dave be dave is what is best...don't buy this stuff don't moderate this site you don't have to like it....I agree.with that.

You ever been to an empty nightclub in the cold light of day with the lights up full and a little woman picking up the detritus from the night before? It looks small and pathetic and the thought of dancing in there is completely alien.

That's what Van Halen have to overcome playing in an afternoon TV show studio and I thought it went as well as it could have and maybe it will get them some extra soccer moms along to the tour.

The band looks really happy, and I always use Alex to gauge that because the guy hardly will throw a fake smile since he sucks about acting interested when he is not. They played an expected song for the venue in question. Dave played the audience type accordingly for where they were at and like a politician said what would make Ellen and the crowd happy. Dave also did not attempt to sing at a range that was out of control and kept it low

Really? Dave left Van Halen in 1985, and Dave was allowed to be Dave. He failed miserably, long term. Why isn't Dave out doing the Dave being Dave stuff, when Van Halen is idle? Why is he spending more time trying to be a Jap, or a EMT, or a dog wrangler, than he is doing his Dave being Dave act? Why isn't he out performing all those solo songs, when VH is idle? Why isn't he throwing a couple of Dave being Dave solo songs into the setlist, like VH did with Clichegar when he was in the band?

Dave tried to be Dave outside of VH. It didn't work. He needs to concentrate on being the singer of Van Halen, as opposed to being Dave being Dave.
