I have never seen a entertainer who embraced the audience more than Roth.

This dude is fearless and you all can't stand it.

Put on some Manilo get that old sheet music out of Bread greatest ...hit and spend some quality time with your resealable ounce and a half of dolphin safe tuna.

Then have a good ole cry.

I've been hearing since 1996 what Van Halen should do once that MTV appearance and two songs with Roth sparked huge excitement in the fan base. Well Roth is back in. He's trying. Stay Frosty was a decent song. I like Chinatown too. I just don't have the urge to listen to those tracks though. No magic. I listen to the old stuff and I watch the old concert footage. Heck I enjoy watching Ed talk about a new amp more than I do watching watching what the band is doing now. Roth has worn old on me. His video blogs mostly put me to sleep. I have to mute his horrible singing (damn I'm digging Ed's playing and man, Roth's horrible voice is in the way and making me cringe). I would rather hear Wolfie just stand there, play the bass and sing than some past the sell date legend making a fool of himself up there. It's ugly.

It should be called "Dave Hangs Himself Tour". Have Dave hanging from a noose made of XLR cable and a Shure 58 on it with Al with a big shit grin on his face in the background holding a wad of cash in his hands for the tour logo and put that on the T-Shirts and beer mugs.

Jagger never lost his "cool" and he's 12 years older. Wish Dave could have kept his. I'm still hoping for the best.
Maybe just albums where he sounds good to me and no live visual reminders that he really doesn't.

Dave's vocal range was limited but I bet he got some high notes out of some of them audience members.

Hell Jagger looked old in the 70's. For me the cool in the Stones was Keef. Heck even Bill Wyman was cool. I was at a Stones show and the song is starting and Bill is standing there lighting a cigarette oblivious to the fact he's in a packed stadium full of screaming fans and the song has started, he puts his lighter in his pocket and jumps in perfectly. Just Bill lighting a cigarette but man, it was cool. The attitude of yeah, yeah, whatever, ok I guess I have to play now. Very rock and roll.

The rest of the band was just fine for the most part...

Dave always had a "what the hell?" factor to him. I remember seeing them live when he came out with those chaps with his bare ass showing. I'm like going what the hell? The thing is he could make up for it by being cool in other ways. Now I watch Dave and he's old, hyper, trying too hard and it ain't cool. It's goofy. He can't do his high energy stuff anymore. Dave was never cool in a minimalist way. He pushed the "what the hell?" and pulled it off in his younger years and can't do it in his 60's. Grace Slick once said rock and roll is a young person's sport. When old people try and do it they look silly. She's right.

It was the same chick right? And Dave sounds awful at times. Then again he never was a great singer.

You gotta be kidding me...due to media syndication, I have to wait until 4 PM for this to start. Shit, I'll be making dinner at that time, since it's my day off. Now I have to watch a daytime talk show?

This and Kimmel...the torture of the perpetually devoted Van Halen fan continues in it's unglamorous (and vastly unacknowledged by the band) glory...if glory even applies.
