You can love Bon and still see Johnson does a great job ... It's not like van where it's one or the other .

Some of the visual aspects of the hair metal genre WERE pretty fucking ridiculous.

All that poofy spandex, makeup and Aqua-Netted hair.

I've just never had much use for Poison. Never did when they first came out and I saw them open for Ratt: my reaction was that this was some jerk-off novelty band who could barely write and barely play, and I still have that reaction today. The fact that their lead singer still has a degree of popularity and marketability vividly illustrates that America not only doesn't have talent but has little to no collective sense of how to differenciate between good music and shit. Bon Jovi falls into that category as well...and Winger...and Warrant. It was even more disheartening in the case of a band like Winger where you had a great lead guitar player wasting his abilities churning out this pop 40 sludge, which was a similar feature with Van Halen after Roth left the band.

But then so many of those bands played music designed to woo jailbait teen girls, so it was mission accomplished far as meeting their objectives. Little of it has aged well, but then was any of it supposed to?
