I definitely would never lump Kings X in with the hair bands. It's bad enough they got pigeon-holed (to some extent) as "Christian rock" which scared off most FM rock stations. And then got dumped by the "Christian" audience once Doug came out of the closet.
Wish some of that early "Sneak Preview" stuff was still on YouTube, but it looks like it's been disappeared, probably out of embarrassment.
This is obviously a cover, but it's probably the oldest recording of them that you're going to find anymore....

Hipster Chick with the 642 Chats gets to pretend to be above it all in another thread
Every band in the is thread was less of a failure than you, and less ghey than you.
I love how you post pics of women other than yourself in your avatar, but call out LZ for plagiarism

FYI.....
When I knew them, gigged with them, and practiced next door to them at The Music Bank, Alice In Chains was a glam/hair band......

Dunno if krokus could be labeled as a hair band but they had a pretty good sound, few good songs.
The singer for krokus should have replaced Bon Scott .Comment

It is true that King's X do not deserve to be lumped in with the likes of, say, Warrant, but, they rose up during that time and catered to the same audience, for the most part. People knew that they were a band with more depth and talent than many others of the time, but they weren't quite alternative either. They had the look and the hair of the hair "movement" so to speak.
Dug is awesome. When they hit it with "Over My Head" I remember thinking, damn, check this guy out. Lefty bass player tuned way the hell down, singing with soul (something severely lacking back then) belting out Roth-esque screams while sporting a Mohawk and a Jimi Hendrix marching band jacket. Under fucking rated in my book!Comment

It's way hard to find, since it's been out-of-print since the late 90s, but John Corabi's pre-Motley band the Scream (with Bruce Boullett of Racer X who rips) was pretty kick ass too... kinda similar to how the Motley record he did (IMO still their best overall effort since Shout at the Devil, and far superior musically) turned out, but even bluesier.
Correction: Looks like someone's uploaded most of the CD on YouTube... cool!~Comment
