Jesus! I feel that I am probably one of most hardcore Ed sheep here but I didn't say ED was "SO ON"... He had good nights and bad nights, definitly not the Ed I grew to love but still Eddie none the less... Is it any different than Roth going out in the 90's and being no where NEAR the Dave he was in the CVH days? You guys loved him because it was still ROTH, not because he was as good as ever...
We "ED SHEEP" were thrilled to see our Eddie out there playing again after his battles in life in the previous few years... To us, any Ed was better than NO Ed...TLC

My husband has almost died from drinking alone... Guess what, he's still drinking... I cant change him nor can I cure his desire for alcohol...
That said... I was certainly glad he didn't die and I just have to love him while I can becaude someday, it will kill him... Same with Ed...Comment

IMO, Ed was a little off, but he was also improvising a bit. Honestly, I think the guy was bored. On the VH3 tour he got to play CVH songs that he hadn't played live since the Dave era. On the '04 tour, a lot of the songs were the same ones he'd done a million times from '86-'95.
His solo was interesting, I thought. He was doing some new stuff. He was experimenting and it was pretty cool. On the '04 tour he was experimenting more but he was also sometimes flat-out screwing up when he tried to do new things. Really, I think Ed was bored. Some of his note choices were very, uh, "interesting" -- in other words, he was playing some stuff that sounded bad -- but ultimately it was coming from boredom. When he was good, he was great (the Mean Street-style playing in his solo was awesome), but when he was bad, it was pretty grim. He wasn't as consistent as the old Ed. The old Ed was consistently jaw-droppingly good. The 2004 Ed could be great or mediocre. It seemed to depend on his mood and, possibly, his level of inebriation.
