I respect song writers and melody creators.

Drummers and bassists are usually neither.

Of course there are exceptions. Geddy Lee creates melody with his bass playing and of course is a great songwriter. Don Henley is a great songwriter. Steve Harris is a great songwriter. Phil Collins is a great songwriter. McCartney is a great songwriter.

But generally speaking the singer, guitar player, and keyboard player are the guys that create the songs and the melodies. That is what great music is about.

Answer me this, how many songs did dave write completely. He sat down wrote the rhythm parts and the lead guitar parts. and the lyrics and recorded it. NOne it was a conbined effort . That was what this whole thread was about. Dave did his part with the other three,not by himself!!

what part did you not understand? seriously? Ive never heard of Mike being replaced on Bass on ANY VH album. Ever. Never heard of Eddie playing Bass for Mike. And if that were to ever occur, then why would Mike even tour with a couple of retards like Al and Ed? Please someone explain this. and if you can't explain it in a way for me to actualy believe as factoid, then I will simply take with a garin of salt. that's how jimmy met him. he still has that career to this day.
john bonham is the most sampled drummer in history.
